Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Urovo DT50 / DT50S — 3.85V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HBLDT50)
This is a 3.85V, 4300mAh Li-ion battery for the Urovo DT50 and DT50S handheld barcode scanners. It replaces the original HBLDT50 pack in devices used for retail scanning, logistics, and warehouse data collection. Capacity figure is taken directly from product data — 16.56Wh.
- DT50 and DT50S fitment: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single pack covers both variants without modification or adapter.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the DT50's BMS initialisation sequence. The protection circuit communicated correctly, charge acceptance registered on the first cradle cycle, and the scan trigger drew current without triggering a low-voltage cutoff.
- First cradle cycle before field deployment: Install the battery, then seat the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before putting it into a pick-and-pack shift. The scan trigger draws peak inrush current when the cell is near minimum charge — a pre-charged pack prevents a false BMS trip on the first scan burst of the shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
A charging error on a freshly installed battery is almost always a contact resistance issue, not a faulty cell. The DT50 cradle uses spring-loaded pogo pins that oxidise or collect debris from daily docking. High contact resistance causes the charger to see an incomplete circuit and throw a fault. Wipe the gold contacts on the battery and the cradle pins with a dry cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and the error clears in most cases within one reconnection attempt.
Scanner losing wireless connection during a rapid scan burst
During a fast scan burst, the DT50 draws current from two sources simultaneously — the imager and the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth radio. A degraded or deeply discharged cell cannot supply both loads at once, and the radio drops first because the scanner's firmware prioritises imager power. The voltage sag under combined load dips below the radio module's minimum operating threshold. Charge the battery to at least 3.9V per cell before starting a high-frequency scanning session to keep both loads stable.

Frequently Asked Questions
My DT50 scanner stops reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?
The imager needs a minimum voltage to fire consistently, and a new pack shipped in storage state may sit below that threshold. The scanner powers on because standby draw is low, but the imager trigger pulls more current than the depleted cell can cleanly supply. Seat the scanner in the cradle and charge it fully before your first scan — once the pack reaches full charge, the imager fires without hesitation.
The DT50 feels noticeably warm after a long shift — is that a battery problem?
Sustained heat in the DT50 housing comes from the combined load of continuous scanning and wireless polling running through a compact cell in an enclosed case. It is normal for the housing to be warm, but if it becomes hot to the touch the BMS may be working harder than usual to manage repeated inrush spikes. Check that the scanner is not stuck in a continuous polling loop and that the wireless signal is strong — a weak signal forces the radio to transmit at higher power, adding thermal load. If the pack surface itself exceeds skin comfort temperature, remove it and check for swelling before recharging.
Our DT50S doesn't last as long per shift as the old battery did even after a full charge — what causes that?
Short shift endurance on a new pack is usually a shallow-cycle conditioning issue. A battery that has sat in storage and been used for only partial charge cycles in the first week has not fully activated all cell capacity. Run three complete discharge-and-full-charge cycles through the cradle — discharge via normal scanning use, then charge uninterrupted to 100% each time. After the third cycle, measured capacity typically stabilises and shift endurance returns to the rated 4300mAh level.
