Fits Roberts Sports DAB1 and Solar DAB1 portable radios; replaces OEM part 210HCB3BMX and GPRHC212B.
3.6V 2200mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers stable voltage throughout discharge cycles that DAB tuners require for stream decoding.
Connector slides onto the two-pin contact block inside the battery compartment; tab aligns vertically to seat fully against the rear wall.
We cycled this pack on a Sports DAB1 across three full charge-discharge runs; BMS held 3.6V plateau through mid-to-low capacity states without sag dropout.
After installing this battery, run the radio's full auto-scan for stations before manual tuning — DAB station lists reset after power loss and need a fresh scan to rebuild the saved-station memory.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Roberts Sports DAB1 / Solar DAB 1 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (210HCB3BMX)

This is a 3.6V, 2200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Roberts Sports DAB1 and Solar DAB 1 portable digital radios. It replaces OEM part numbers 210HCB3BMX and GPRHC212B. Physical dimensions are 51.10 × 43.00 × 14.60mm — measure your original before ordering if unsure.

  • Sports DAB1 and Solar DAB 1 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, voltage rail, and connector layout. The same 3.6V Ni-MH cell works across all variants in this family without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on DAB radio hardware. The battery accepted a full charge without thermal event, and the radio's low-battery indicator triggered at the correct voltage threshold.
  • Station list recovery after swap: After installing this battery, let the radio complete a full auto-scan before tuning manually. DAB radios store station lists in volatile memory — any power interruption resets that list, and a fresh scan rebuilds it correctly.

Radio cutting out mid-station at low battery

The DAB decoder in the Sports DAB1 requires a stable voltage to process the OFDM stream. When cell voltage sags under load, the decoder loses lock on the multiplex signal and the audio cuts. This is not an aerial or signal issue — it is a voltage floor problem. If dropouts increase as the battery indicator drops, the cell is at end of life and needs replacing.

Reception noticeably worse than with the original battery

The RF front-end in a DAB radio draws more current when signal strength is low — it increases search power to lock onto weaker multiplexes. If the replacement cell cannot sustain 3.6V under that elevated draw, the radio reduces RF output and reception degrades. Check that the battery has completed at least two full charge cycles, as Ni-MH cells do not reach full rated capacity on the first charge. If reception remains poor after two cycles, the cell voltage under load may be sagging below 3.2V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Roberts Sports DAB1 lost all its saved stations after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The station list on the Sports DAB1 is held in volatile memory, so any power interruption — including a battery swap — wipes it. Run a full auto-scan from the menu once the new battery is fitted and the radio will rebuild the complete station list. Do not tune stations manually before the scan finishes, or gaps will appear in the list.

The DAB radio keeps dropping out mid-broadcast even though the battery shows charged — what's causing it?

The DAB decoder needs a stable voltage to hold lock on the digital multiplex stream. A cell that reads charged at rest can still sag below the decoder's minimum threshold the moment current draw increases. Put the battery on a full charge, then test — if dropouts persist with a full cell, the battery is not holding voltage under load and should be replaced. The dropout threshold on the Sports DAB1 is typically around 3.0V under load.

Battery life seems much shorter when I listen in areas with a weak DAB signal — is the battery faulty?

It is not faulty. In weak signal areas the RF front-end draws significantly more current as it works harder to lock onto the multiplex. That increased draw shortens the charge cycle noticeably compared to listening in a strong signal area. Move closer to a window or outdoors and check whether charge duration improves — if it does, the cell is fine and the issue is reception environment, not battery capacity.
