Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Rowenta Smart Force Cyclonic RR8021 — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (RS-RT900817)
This is a 14.8V, 5200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Rowenta Smart Force Cyclonic robotic vacuum range. It fits the RR8021, RR8024, RR8037, and RR8043, along with 14 additional models in the same series. The RS-RT900817 part number confirms direct compatibility with this battery bay and BMS configuration.
- RR8021 / RR8024 / RR8037 / RR8043 series fit: These models share the same 14.8V four-cell architecture, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol with the charging dock. Swapping between models in this family requires no modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the full dock charge cycle and monitored the BMS charge termination. The protection circuit cut off cleanly at full charge and responded correctly to the dock's communication signal — no error codes triggered on the vacuum's control board.
- Dock charging habit for this vacuum: The RR8021 series sends the vacuum back to dock automatically after each run, which puts the battery on continuous trickle charge between sessions. Remove the vacuum from the dock when a cleaning cycle is not scheduled — sustained dock contact accelerates capacity fade in Li-ion cells faster than charge cycles alone.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
The RR8021 motor draws significantly more current when the filter is partially blocked or the brush roll is restricted by debris. Under that elevated load, a degraded cell can no longer sustain the 14.8V rail — voltage sags, and the motor controller reduces power before the battery gauge registers as low. The battery indicator reads state-of-charge, not load voltage, so the two diverge under high draw. Clean the filter and check the brush roll before concluding the battery is at fault — a fresh filter alone can restore full suction on an otherwise marginal cell.
Motor cuts out mid-cycle then recovers after a pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When sustained suction restriction forces the motor to pull above the BMS current threshold — typically from a clogged filter or tangled brush roll — the protection circuit cuts the output and waits for current draw to normalise before resetting. The vacuum appears to "recover" because the BMS self-resets once the fault clears. Fix the restriction first: clean or replace the filter, clear the brush roll, then test again. If cutouts continue on an unobstructed run, measure open-circuit voltage — a healthy cell at rest should read above 15.8V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Rowenta RR8021 returned to dock, charged overnight, but only cleaned half the room before suction dropped off — is the new battery already failing?
Unlikely to be the battery itself. The most common cause is a partially blocked filter forcing the motor to draw above its rated current — this drains the 14.8V cell faster than normal and causes the motor controller to reduce power before the gauge shows low. Remove and clean the filter thoroughly, then run again. If suction holds for a full cycle, the battery is fine and the filter was the restriction.
The vacuum cuts out completely during a run, sits idle for a minute, then starts again — what is causing that?
That is the BMS overcurrent protection tripping and self-resetting. When the brush roll is tangled or the filter is restricted, the motor pulls more current than the BMS allows, so it cuts the output to protect the cells. Clear the brush roll of hair and debris, clean the filter, and run a cycle on bare floor with no obstructions. If the cutout still happens on an unrestricted surface, check open-circuit voltage at the battery terminals — it should read above 15.8V at full charge.
I replaced the battery but my RR8021 is now showing a charging error on the dock — the original battery charged fine in the same dock.
The RR8021 dock communicates with the battery BMS before initiating a charge cycle — if the handshake fails, the dock throws an error rather than charging. First, remove the battery, reseat it firmly, and return the vacuum to the dock. If the error persists, clean the dock contact pins and the battery terminals with a dry cloth to remove oxidation. A successful handshake will show the charge indicator cycling normally within 60 seconds of docking.
