Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Rowenta Tondeuse Wet & Dry Series — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (CS-00135747)
This is a 2.4V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Rowenta Tondeuse Wet & Dry trimmer and clipper range. It fits the TN5100F0/3M0, TN5120F0/3M0, and TN5140F0/3M0 models, plus one additional variant in the same series. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or fails to complete a full trim cycle.
- TN51xx series fit: All TN51xx models in this range share the same 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH configuration, identical connector pinout, and physical cell dimensions of 49.30 × 28.50 × 15.50mm. One replacement covers the full group without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran charge and discharge cycles on this cell using the original Rowenta charging circuit. The cell accepted a full charge without thermal runaway, and the terminal voltage held steady at 2.4V under load across repeated cycles.
- Ni-MH cycle care for trimmers: Ni-MH cells in low-drain grooming tools suffer from voltage depression when repeatedly topped up from a partial state. Run the trimmer until it slows noticeably, then charge fully — this keeps the cell's usable voltage window from compressing over time.
Why the Tondeuse Wet & Dry loses cutting power before the charge runs out
Ni-MH cells develop a memory-like voltage depression when cycled repeatedly from partial discharge. The trimmer motor draws enough current to expose that compressed voltage window, so cutting torque drops even though the cell still has stored charge. This is not a fault with the cell itself — it is a cycle history issue. Conditioning the replacement cell with two or three full discharge-to-charge cycles resets the usable voltage range and restores motor torque.
Replacement cell not charging after fitting
A new Ni-MH cell shipped in storage state can read below 2.0V at the terminals, which some Rowenta chargers interpret as a dead or absent cell and refuse to initiate a charge. Place the trimmer on charge for at least 30 minutes without interruption — the charger typically needs the cell to climb above 2.1V before the charge circuit latches on properly. If the charger LED still shows no activity after 30 minutes, disconnect, wait 60 seconds, and reconnect. Confirm the charger output is delivering at least 2.4V DC before assuming a fault with the cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Rowenta Tondeuse trimmer slows down halfway through a trim even though I just charged it — is the new battery faulty?
Almost certainly not a faulty cell. Ni-MH batteries shipped in storage state often have compressed voltage windows from sitting uncharged, which causes the motor to lose torque before the cell is actually depleted. Run two or three full discharge-then-charge cycles — discharge the trimmer until it slows to a crawl, then charge fully each time. After conditioning, the usable voltage range expands and cutting torque returns to normal.
The trimmer runs for a shorter time than it used to even with a brand-new replacement cell — what causes that?
A partially blocked blade or dirty pivot point forces the motor to draw more current than rated, draining the 2000mAh cell faster than the spec suggests. Clean hair and debris from the blade guides and pivot before attributing short run time to the battery. Also confirm the blade is sharp — a dull blade increases motor load significantly. After cleaning, charge fully and retest before drawing any conclusions about cell capacity.
My Rowenta Tondeuse trimmer cuts out mid-use and then comes back on after a few seconds — what is happening?
This is a low-voltage cutoff trip inside the trimmer's protection circuit, not a mechanical fault. Under high motor load — tangled hair, a restricted blade, or a partially discharged cell — the cell voltage dips below the cutoff threshold momentarily, the circuit opens, and it resets once the voltage recovers. Check the blade for obstruction first and clear it. If cut-outs persist on a clean, fully charged cell, measure the resting terminal voltage — it should read at least 2.4V; anything below 2.2V at rest indicates the cell needs replacement.
