This 3.7V 1100mAh Li-ion battery replaces the ATB-1200 in RTI T2B, T2Cs, T2C, and T3 programmable universal remote controls. It restores power to the remote's wireless transmission and IR output functions. Voltage and capacity match the original RTI specification exactly.
- T2B, T2Cs, T2C, and T3 compatibility: These four RTI remotes share the same battery bay dimensions and 3.7V single-cell Li-ion power rail, which is why one ATB-1200 replacement covers all of them. The connector orientation and BMS communication protocol are identical across the series.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We seated the battery in a T2B remote and cycled through IR transmission and RF command sequences. The BMS held a stable 3.7V nominal rail throughout and the low-voltage cutoff triggered cleanly at the expected threshold without false shutdowns.
- Single-cell Li-ion handling: RTI remotes draw very low current during standby, but IR burst transmission pulls a short high-current spike. Do not leave the remote discharged for extended periods — a single Li-ion cell left at zero volts for weeks can drop below the BMS recovery threshold and refuse to accept a charge.
Why the ATB-1200 cell drops below IR trigger threshold before the low-battery indicator fires
Li-ion cells deliver a fairly flat discharge curve down to around 3.4V, then voltage drops sharply. RTI remotes trigger the low-battery warning late in that curve, so users often see normal operation right up until commands start failing. The IR LED needs a minimum current burst to reach the sensor on a TV or amplifier — when the cell can no longer supply that burst cleanly, commands drop out before the battery icon appears. Replacing the cell at the first sign of reduced range, rather than waiting for the indicator, avoids this gap.
Remote completely unresponsive after fitting the new battery
This almost always comes down to cell orientation. The ATB-1200 is a slim Li-ion pouch cell with a keyed connector, but it is still possible to seat it with reversed polarity if the connector is forced. Check that the positive terminal on the battery aligns with the positive marking in the bay — the remote will show no signs of life at all if polarity is reversed. If orientation is correct and the remote still does not respond, confirm the connector is fully clicked in; a half-seated connection on this form factor reads as an open circuit. Reseat until you hear or feel the click, then press any button to wake the remote.

My RTI remote stopped responding to button presses right after I put in the new battery — what did I do wrong?
The most likely cause is reversed polarity. The ATB-1200 has a keyed connector, but if it was forced in the wrong way the remote gets no voltage at all and shows zero response. Pull the battery, check that the positive terminal on the cell lines up with the positive marking in the compartment, and reseat until the connector clicks fully home. Once correctly seated, press any button — the remote should wake immediately.
My RTI T2B works but I have to point it directly at the TV from close range — the old battery worked from across the room. Why?
The IR LED needs a short high-current burst to fire a signal strong enough to reach a sensor across a room. When a Li-ion cell ages or sits partially discharged, its internal resistance rises and it can no longer deliver that burst at full amplitude. The remote still functions at close range because the LED fires, just weakly. Fitting a fresh ATB-1200 restores the cell's burst-current capability and normal operating range returns immediately.
The battery in my RTI remote drains noticeably faster than I expected — is something wrong with the remote or the battery?
Faster-than-expected drain in a low-draw device like this remote usually points to a stuck or partially depressed button creating a continuous parasitic draw. Remove the battery and inspect every button to confirm none are jammed or sitting slightly compressed in the housing. If all buttons move freely and spring back cleanly, the drain rate is likely from heavier-than-typical use — frequent macro commands and RF transmission pull more current than simple IR blasts. Refit the battery and monitor; if it drops below 3.5V within a few days without heavy use, check for a stuck button again before assuming a faulty cell.
