Fits Samsung Galaxy Watch Active SM-R500 and SM-R500N using OEM part number GH43-04922A or EB-BR500ABU.
Voltage is 3.85V at 230mAh capacity — delivers the energy density required for all-day fitness tracking and heart rate monitoring on this compact wearable.
Connector attaches via pogo pins on the battery housing; slides into the watch case at a slight angle before seating fully against the rear compartment wall.
We bench tested this cell on the SM-R500 platform; the fuel gauge IC accepted the new BMS signature after a full charge cycle from insertion.
After fitting the new cell, place the watch on its charger immediately and charge to 100% before first use — the fuel gauge cannot calibrate without a full charge cycle from near-zero.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (GH43-04922A)

This 3.85V, 230mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active (SM-R500, SM-R500N). It fits the same physical footprint as the OEM cell at 22.40 × 20.50 × 5.00mm and connects to the same flex connector on the watch mainboard. Swap it when the original cell no longer holds a full charge or shuts down unexpectedly under load.

  • SM-R500 and SM-R500N compatibility: Both watch variants share the same battery bay dimensions, flex connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — the fuel gauge IC on the mainboard communicates over the same lines regardless of regional SKU.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on an SM-R500 unit, confirming the BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, the fuel gauge initialised correctly after a full charge cycle, and the watch resumed normal sensor operation.
  • Post-swap charging protocol: After fitting this cell, place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately and charge to 100% before first use. The fuel gauge IC on the Galaxy Watch Active cannot calibrate its state-of-charge reference without a full charge cycle from near-zero after a cell swap — skipping this step causes the percentage readout to drift or report 0% incorrectly.

Why the Galaxy Watch Active reports incorrect battery percentage after a cell swap

The SM-R500 uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that tracks charge by measuring current flow over time. When the old cell is removed, the IC loses its accumulated reference data entirely. The new cell arrives with a partial charge state the IC has never measured, so the displayed percentage is a guess at best. A single full charge cycle — from near-zero to 100% on the magnetic charger — resets and rebuilds the IC's reference, giving accurate readings from that point forward.

Watch draining to empty in under a day after battery replacement

If the watch drops to 0% within a single day after fitting this cell, check whether always-on display and continuous heart rate monitoring are both active — that combination sustains a near-constant sensor and display draw on a 230mAh cell. The heart rate sensor on a freshly swapped cell can also draw slightly higher current for the first several charge cycles while operating against the new cell's impedance profile. Disable always-on display temporarily, complete three full charge cycles, then re-enable it and monitor drain. If it still drops inside a day with both features off, reseat the flex connector at 3.85V nominal and confirm it is fully latched.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Galaxy Watch Active won't pair with my phone after I replaced the battery — did I break something?

No. Removing the battery during a swap terminates the active BLE session and the watch loses its pairing state in some firmware versions. Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone, select "Disconnect" or "Unpair," then re-pair from scratch through the app. The watch does not need a factory reset — a fresh pairing from the app is enough.

The heart rate sensor is draining this new battery much faster than it drained the old one — is the cell faulty?

It is not faulty. A new cell has a different impedance profile than a worn original, and the heart rate sensor's power draw reads slightly higher against that impedance for the first few charge cycles. This normalises after three to five full charge-discharge cycles as the cell's internal resistance settles. If drain is still abnormally high after five cycles with continuous HR monitoring on, check that the sensor lens on the underside of the watch is clean and seated flush — a dirty lens forces the sensor to increase LED drive current to get a clean signal.

The magnetic charger isn't registering contact after I reassembled the watch — the charging icon never appears.

The charge contacts on the SM-R500 case back can shift slightly during reassembly if the rear panel is not pressed evenly into its adhesive seat. Remove the watch from the charger, press firmly and evenly around the full perimeter of the case back, then place it back on the charger. If the icon still does not appear, clean the four gold pogo pin contacts on the charger puck and the matching pads on the watch back with a dry cloth — oxidation or adhesive residue on either surface breaks the connection at the low voltage the charger uses to detect the watch.
