Fits Samsung SGH-J200 and replaces original AB533640BE battery pack.
3.7V at 800mAh delivers standard runtime for this compact mid-2000s phone.
Connector slides onto SGH-J200 contact pins; no locking tab present on this model.
Bench testing showed clean voltage ramp on first charge with stable BMS handoff.
On first power-up, allow one complete discharge-charge cycle before regular use so the phone's fuel gauge IC recalibrates to this cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung SGH-J200 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AB533640BE)

This is a 3.7V, 800mAh Li-ion cell rated at 2.96Wh, built to the AB533640BE specification. It fits the Samsung SGH-J200, a compact candybar-style mobile phone from the mid-2000s. Install it when the original cell no longer holds enough charge to get through a full day of use.

  • SGH-J200 fit: The J200 uses a slim, low-capacity single-cell pack at 3.7V nominal. The AB533640BE form factor matches the contact placement and physical dimensions (43.72 × 35.49 × 4.94mm) exactly, so the battery seats and latches without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the J200 platform. The protection circuit handled end-of-charge cutoff cleanly at 4.2V and triggered undervoltage lockout before the cell dropped below safe floor voltage.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after installation: After fitting a new cell, run one complete discharge down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before resuming normal use. The J200's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle resets its reference and stops the percentage counter from reading inaccurately.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the SGH-J200 after a cell swap

The J200 shuts down abruptly in the 20–30% range when the fuel gauge IC's stored discharge curve no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage profile. The phone's software reads a safe percentage, but the real cell voltage drops sharply under the load of an incoming call or backlight burst. That voltage cliff triggers the protection circuit before the gauge catches up. One full discharge-to-shutoff and uninterrupted recharge corrects the IC's reference data and eliminates the false cutoff.

Phone warm near the battery compartment on the first few charges

A new Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC pushes slightly more voltage across that resistance during the constant-current phase — that converts to heat. On the J200 this is most noticeable in the first two or three cycles and fades as the cell's impedance settles. Keep the phone out of a case or pocket during those early charges so heat can dissipate from the plastic back cover. If warmth persists past the third full cycle, measure the battery contact voltage at full charge — it should read 4.15–4.20V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SGH-J200 shuts off suddenly even though the screen still shows 25% battery — what's causing this?

The fuel gauge IC in the J200 stores a discharge curve calibrated to your old cell. When you fit a new cell, the curve no longer matches, so the phone reads 25% while the actual cell voltage has already dropped to a level where the protection circuit cuts power. Run the phone down to automatic shutoff once, then charge it to 100% without interruption. That single full cycle gives the IC a new reference and stops the premature shutdown.

The SGH-J200 won't power on at all after sitting in a drawer for months with the new battery installed — is the battery dead?

Most likely the BMS has tripped into lockout because the cell self-discharged below 2.5V during storage. The phone will not respond to a normal power button press in that state. Connect the charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything — the charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell before the BMS will re-initialise and allow the phone to boot. Once the screen shows a charging indicator, charge fully to 4.2V before use.

The battery percentage on my J200 keeps jumping around — one minute it says 60%, then it skips to 45% without any heavy use. What's wrong?

This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against a cell discharge curve it doesn't yet recognise. It happens because the coulomb counter accumulated errors against the old cell's characteristics. The fix is one disciplined full cycle: drain the phone to automatic shutoff under normal use, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle the percentage reading stabilises and the counter tracks the new cell's curve accurately.
