Fits Sepura STP8000, STS8000, and STP8038 radios; replaces OEM part 300-00635 and cross-references 300-00631, 300-01175, 300-01852, 300-01853, 300-00634, 300-01174.
7.4V and 3300mAh (24.42Wh) matches the original pack output; sustains full transmit power across extended shifts without voltage sag.
Gold contact connector inserts vertically into the radio battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We ran a full charge cycle on the STP8000 dock and confirmed the BMS accepted the handshake without fault indication; discharge under sustained PTT showed stable voltage delivery.
If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the Sepura platform needs a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sepura STP8000 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (300-00635)

This 7.4V, 3300mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Sepura STP8000, STS8000, STP8038, STP8030, and over 26 compatible variants. It is a direct cell replacement for professional land mobile radios used by emergency services and security teams. OEM part numbers covered include 300-00635, 300-00631, 300-01175, 300-01852, 300-01853, 300-00634, and 300-01174.

  • STP8000 and STS8000 platform compatibility: These models share a common battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol across the STP8030 and STP8038 variants — one cell format fits the full series without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge acceptance and transmit-load cycles on the STP8000 platform. The BMS handled repeated PTT current spikes without tripping, and the charger dock accepted the pack through a full charge cycle to green.
  • First insertion contact check: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The STP8000 dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging begins.

Why the STP8000 cuts out mid-transmission on a freshly inserted battery

The STP8000 draws a sharp current spike the moment PTT is pressed — transmit current can hit several amps in under 100 milliseconds. A new pack shipped at storage voltage (typically 3.7–3.8V per cell) has a higher internal impedance than a fully charged cell. That impedance causes a voltage sag under transmit load that can trip the BMS overcurrent threshold before the radio completes the transmission. Charge the pack fully to 8.4V before the first operational shift to bring cell impedance down to normal working range.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting this pack

The STP8000 uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator — each bar maps to a fixed voltage window, not a fuel gauge chip. A pack shipped at storage voltage will sit below the top threshold and display one or two bars even though the cells are not depleted. This is storage voltage, not a faulty cell. Put the pack on charge until the dock shows green, then reinsert — the indicator will read correctly at full charge voltage of 8.4V.

Frequently Asked Questions

The STP8000 drops to reduced TX power partway through a long shift — is that the battery or the radio?

That is the battery. Under sustained RF output across a shift, cell voltage sags as capacity depletes, and the STP8000 steps down transmit power automatically once voltage falls below its lower operating threshold. It is a protection feature in the radio firmware, not a fault. Charge the pack before a long shift so it starts at full 8.4V — a half-depleted pack will trigger the power reduction earlier in the shift.

The charger dock fault LED never clears — it just blinks continuously no matter how long the pack sits in the cradle.

A continuously blinking fault LED on the STP8000 dock usually means the pack voltage has dropped below the dock's acceptance threshold — typically under 6V. The dock will not begin a charge cycle on a deeply discharged pack. Remove the pack, check that the gold contacts are clean and making firm contact, reseat it, and listen for the dock relay click. If the LED still blinks after a firm reseat, the cells are likely below recovery threshold and the pack needs replacement.

After six months in storage, the STP8000 won't power on even with the battery fully seated — what's happening?

Extended storage causes the cells to self-discharge below the BMS reinitialisation threshold — the protection circuit locks out to prevent damage and the radio sees no valid voltage. Place the pack in the STP8000 charger dock and leave it for at least two hours undisturbed. Most docks apply a low-current recovery charge that brings the cell voltage back above the BMS unlock point, after which a normal charge cycle begins and the radio powers on at 8.4V.
