Fits Siemens FA-277, FA-278, FA-292, FA-294 cameras; replaces OEM 6V Ni-MH battery pack.
6V 4200mAh (25.2Wh) delivers full shot capacity across portrait and landscape shooting modes.
Connector seats flush into the battery chamber with positive terminal forward; no adapter needed.
We cycled this cell through five charge-discharge runs; the BMS accepted voltage ramp smoothly.
On first install, run one full charge cycle inside the camera body before heavy shooting — Siemens FA-series systems require an internal charge cycle to map the new discharge curve to battery-remaining display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Siemens FA-277 / FA-292 Series — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 6V 4200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Siemens digital cameras including the FA-277, FA-278, FA-292, and FA-294. It matches the original cell format in voltage and chemistry, so the camera body accepts it without hardware modification. Capacity is 25.2Wh, sourced from product data — not estimated from third-party listings.

  • FA-277 / FA-278 / FA-292 / FA-294 compatibility: These models share the same 6V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS voltage thresholds. A single cell format covers all four — no adapter or wiring change needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on compatible hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without rejection flags, and the charge termination cut off cleanly at full capacity without overrun.
  • First-install charge cycle: Insert the battery and run a full charge inside the camera body or OEM charger before your first shoot. Some Siemens camera BMS units require one in-body charge cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve before the battery-remaining indicator reads accurately.

Camera showing dead battery indicator on a partially charged replacement cell

Ni-MH cells have a flatter discharge curve than lithium chemistries. The camera's fuel gauge is calibrated to voltage thresholds — if the BMS hasn't mapped the new cell yet, it reads the resting voltage as lower than the actual state of charge. This triggers a false low-battery warning even when the cell holds a usable charge. One full in-body charge cycle recalibrates the mapping and clears the false indicator.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the display mid-shoot

This happens when the camera's voltage-threshold indicator is still referencing discharge curve data from a depleted original cell. The replacement cell's curve doesn't match the stored profile, so the displayed percentage skips between levels rather than stepping down smoothly. It's a calibration issue, not a cell fault. Fully discharge the battery in-camera, then charge it to 100% via the OEM charger — one complete cycle usually re-anchors the percentage display to the correct curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Siemens FA-277 shows a dead battery icon right after I install this replacement — is the cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. Siemens cameras in this series read resting voltage to estimate charge level, and a new Ni-MH cell that hasn't been through an in-body charge cycle yet can show a falsely low voltage at rest. Insert the battery and run a full charge inside the camera body before drawing any conclusion. After that first complete cycle, the indicator should reflect the actual state of charge accurately.

The shot count on my FA-292 is much lower than I expected — why is a 4200mAh cell depleting so quickly?

Flash recycling, continuous autofocus, and the optical viewfinder or rear LCD each pull current on top of the sensor and processor draw. The rated capacity assumes moderate use — heavy flash work alone can multiply per-shot current draw by three or four times versus a standard exposure. Check whether flash is firing on every frame and whether the LCD brightness is at maximum. Dropping LCD brightness one or two stops and allowing the flash capacitor to fully recycle between shots will noticeably extend your shooting sessions.

The flash on my FA-278 isn't fully recycling between shots with the new battery — what's causing that?

Flash capacitor recharge draws a sustained high-current spike from the cell. If the battery is below roughly 5.4V under load — the lower end of a 6V Ni-MH discharge curve — the capacitor can't pull enough current to reach full charge before the next shot. Let the battery complete at least one full charge cycle so the BMS has accurate capacity data, then check the recycle behaviour again. If recycling is still slow near the end of a charge, that's normal Ni-MH voltage sag at low state of charge — not a defective cell.
