Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Grundig LC-355 / LC-400 / LC-410 / LC-450 — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This 6V, 2100mAh Ni-MH cell replaces the original battery in Grundig compact film cameras including the LC-355, LC-400, LC-410, and LC-450. It powers the camera's flash, light meter, shutter electronics, and film advance motor. Voltage and capacity match the OEM specification exactly.
- LC-series camera compatibility: These four models share the same battery bay dimensions and 6V power rail. The flash capacitor charge circuit, shutter timing electronics, and light meter all draw from a single cell at this voltage. Swapping to an incorrect voltage causes metering errors or no-fire flash faults.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the LC-355 charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without rejection on first charge. Flash recycle behaviour remained consistent across multiple discharge cycles, and the light meter held stable readings throughout.
- Film camera flash capacitor care: If the camera has sat unused for months, run one full charge-discharge cycle before shooting. Aged flash capacitors can draw a spike on first recharge that stresses a cold cell — one warm-up cycle conditions both the cell and the capacitor together.
Why the LC-355 flash fails to fire on a new cell
The flash capacitor in the LC-355 draws a sharp inrush current when charging from zero. If the replacement cell sits at low state of charge on arrival, this inrush can trip the cell's internal protection before the capacitor fully charges. The flash fires weakly or not at all — but the camera body is not the fault. Charge the replacement cell fully in the OEM charger before installing, and the flash capacitor will cycle normally from the first shot.
Battery percentage jumping on the LC-series display after fitting a new cell
Ni-MH cells have a flatter discharge curve than the original aged cell the camera's indicator was calibrated against in use. The indicator reads voltage thresholds and maps them to percentage segments — a fresh cell at full charge sits above those thresholds, causing the display to jump between bars non-linearly. This is a calibration artefact, not a cell fault. After one full charge and discharge cycle through the camera body, the indicator mapping stabilises to match the new cell's discharge curve.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Grundig LC-355 shows a low battery warning immediately after fitting the new cell — is the cell faulty?
It is not faulty. Ni-MH replacement cells often ship at a partial state of charge, and the LC-355's voltage-threshold indicator reads that as low rather than measuring true capacity. Charge the cell fully in the OEM charger before the camera body sees it. Once you complete one full charge cycle, the warning clears and the indicator tracks correctly.
The flash is recycling much slower between shots than it did with the original battery — what causes that?
Flash recycle time increases when the cell's output voltage sags under the capacitor recharge current. This happens when the cell is near the bottom of its discharge curve or when the flash capacitor itself needs a conditioning cycle after a long storage period. Charge the cell fully, then fire the flash ten times in quick succession without shooting — this burns off any capacitor oxide buildup. Recycle time should return to normal within those first few cycles.
Shot count is lower than expected in cold weather — the battery drops out before the roll is finished
Ni-MH cells lose effective capacity in temperatures below 10°C because internal resistance rises sharply, causing voltage to sag under the flash and motor-advance current draw before the cell is actually empty. The cell reads as depleted but recovers to near-full capacity once warmed. Keep the camera body inside a jacket pocket between shots and only expose it to fire — the recovered voltage at 20°C or above will be above 5.4V under load, enough to complete the roll.
