Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Silvercrest SSR1 / SSRA1 — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 14.8V, 2200mAh (32.56Wh) Li-ion battery for the Silvercrest SSR1 and SSRA1 cordless stick vacuums. It slots into the same battery bay as the original and powers the motor at the same voltage rail. Swap it when the original cell no longer holds a useful charge.

  • SSR1 and SSRA1 compatibility: Both models run the same 14.8V motor platform and use the same battery bay geometry and connector pinout. One cell covers both units without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the SSR1 platform. The BMS held cutoff correctly at low-cell voltage and accepted charge from the standard Silvercrest dock without fault.
  • Dock charging practice for the SSR1: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the dock indefinitely between uses. Continuous trickle charge on this cell chemistry accelerates capacity fade. Charge to full, then remove it from the dock until the next use.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

The SSR1 motor draws significantly more current when airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter or clogged cyclone forces the motor to work harder at the same RPM. That extra draw causes the cell voltage to sag under load, even when the battery still reads mid-charge. The BMS reads sagging cell voltage, not filter restriction, so it throttles power to protect the cell. Clean the filter first — if suction recovers, the battery is fine. If the cell voltage still sags below 12.8V under normal load after a full charge, the cell itself needs replacing.

Motor cuts out mid-clean and then restarts after a pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. It happens when sustained restricted airflow — a dense carpet pile, a blocked nozzle, or a loaded filter — drives the motor current past the BMS threshold. The BMS cuts output to protect the cell, then resets once current demand drops. The pause before restart is the BMS recovery window. Clear the blockage or empty the dust bin, then press power again. If the trip keeps occurring on a clear filter and open nozzle, check that the replacement cell's BMS is not set to a lower overcurrent threshold than the original.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SSR1 has a fully charged new battery but suction feels weaker than it should — what's going on?

A restricted filter is the most common cause. When airflow is blocked, the motor pulls more current to maintain speed, which causes cell voltage to sag under load — the vacuum performs as if the battery is nearly flat even when it isn't. Remove and tap out the filter, clean the cyclone, and clear the nozzle, then retest. If suction is still low on a clean filter, confirm the replacement cell is reading at least 16.4V immediately after a full charge.

The SSR1 cuts out after a few seconds of use on thick carpet, then restarts when I press the button again — is this the battery?

This is the BMS tripping on an overcurrent spike, not a faulty cell. Thick carpet restricts airflow and pushes motor current past the BMS cutoff limit; the BMS shuts output, then resets once current demand drops. Check the filter is clean and the nozzle is clear before suspecting the battery. If the trips stop on hard floor or after a filter clean, the cell is working correctly.

My replacement battery is fading noticeably after only a few months — could the dock be causing this?

Yes. Leaving the SSR1 on the charging dock continuously between uses is the most common cause of early capacity fade on this cell chemistry. The dock applies a trickle charge once the cell reaches full, and sustained trickle charge degrades lithium-ion cells faster than normal cycling does. Charge the battery fully, then lift the vacuum off the dock and store it separately. Follow this habit from the first charge cycle on the replacement cell.
