Fits Softing NetXpert XG2 network analyzer; replaces OEM part numbers TXGBATX and U80285.
7.4V 6800mAh lithium-ion pack delivers sustained power through extended field surveys without mid-measurement shutdown.
Connector seats into the NetXpert XG2 battery slot with positive terminal contact alignment; locking tab secures pack during transport.
We bench-tested this cell on the instrument's load profile — BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with stable voltage during probe initialization cycles.
After installation, run the instrument's full calibration routine from the main menu before field deployment — this cycle synchronizes the battery state indicator to the new cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Softing NetXpert XG2 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (TXGBATX)

This 7.4V 6800mAh Li-ion pack replaces the original battery in the Softing NetXpert XG2 and T66006B portable network analyser. It matches the OEM voltage rail, connector, and BMS communication profile the instrument expects. Capacity is 6800mAh (50.32Wh) — taken from the product specification, not estimated.

  • NetXpert XG2 and T66006B compatibility: Both units run the same 7.4V power architecture and share the TXGBATX connector pinout. The BMS handshake and protection circuit thresholds are identical across the two, so one pack covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through a full charge cycle and simulated the current spike that occurs when the XG2 powers its active probe modules at initialisation. The BMS held the rail without triggering overcurrent cutoff at that load step.
  • Post-install calibration on the NetXpert XG2: After fitting the new pack, run a full calibration cycle from the instrument menu before field deployment. The XG2 maps battery state during that sequence — skipping it causes the low-battery indicator to fire prematurely during the first measurement session, which interrupts logging.

BMS lockout after the NetXpert XG2 sat unused in a carry case for months

Li-ion cells self-discharge over time. If the XG2 sat unused long enough, the pack can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. At that point the BMS enters a sleep state and the instrument shows no sign of life, even on charge. To recover the pack, connect the charger and leave it for at least 30–60 minutes before attempting to power on — most BMS circuits re-initialise once the cells clear 3.0V per cell. If the charger shows no activity at all after that window, the cells have likely dropped below the hard cutoff and the pack needs replacing.

Readings resetting or dropping out mid-logging session on the XG2

This is a voltage-sag issue, not a capacity issue. Under sustained sensor load during an active logging run, the pack voltage can dip enough to trigger the instrument's low-voltage protection, causing a momentary reset rather than a clean shutdown. It happens most often when the XG2 is running active network analysis with display backlight at full brightness simultaneously. Check the battery percentage immediately after a reset — if it recovers to above 40% within seconds, the cell is sagging under load rather than genuinely depleted. Reducing backlight brightness or closing background test processes reduces the sustained draw and keeps the rail stable above 7.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

The NetXpert XG2 shuts down the moment it starts a USB data transfer to a PC — battery shows over 50% before it cuts out. What's happening?

USB data transfer adds a combined draw on top of whatever test process is still active — the XG2 doesn't suspend its measurement engine during transfer. That combined load can push instantaneous current draw past the BMS overcurrent threshold, which trips a protective cutoff even at a healthy state of charge. Close any active test sessions before initiating a USB transfer and confirm the pack voltage reads above 7.2V at rest before connecting the cable.

The NetXpert XG2 powers on fine but the battery percentage jumps around erratically at startup — shows 80%, then 20%, then 65% within the first minute.

The instrument's voltage-threshold indicator is recalibrating to the new cell's discharge curve, which differs slightly from the worn original pack it replaced. The percentage display stabilises once the instrument completes a full charge-to-discharge cycle and maps the new cell's voltage profile. Run the battery from a full charge down to the auto-shutdown point once, then recharge fully — the percentage display should track consistently after that single conditioning cycle.

The XG2 battery icon shows a charge error and the unit won't charge after the pack sat in storage for several months. Is the charger the problem?

Almost certainly not the charger. Extended storage drops cell voltage below the BMS wake threshold, and the charger sees what looks like a missing or faulted pack. Connect the original OEM charger and leave it undisturbed for 45–60 minutes — the BMS needs that window to detect trickle current and exit sleep mode. Once the charge indicator on the unit changes from an error state to an active charging state, the cells have cleared approximately 3.0V per cell and the pack will charge normally from that point.
