Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Digi Connect Sensor+ — 7.2V Li-SOCl2 Replacement Battery (76000912)
This 7.2V lithium-thionyl chloride battery replaces the OEM pack in the Digi Connect Sensor+. It carries a 14500mAh (104.4Wh) capacity and is the correct chemistry for long-term wireless sensor deployments where the device sits unattended in the field for extended periods. Li-SOCl2 chemistry holds voltage flat across the discharge curve, which matters for stable sensor readings over months.
- Connect Sensor+ platform fit: The Digi Connect Sensor+ uses a single-cell Li-SOCl2 configuration at 7.2V. The BMS in this device reads voltage thresholds and cell impedance — swapping to a different chemistry or nominal voltage causes false low-battery flags or refusal to boot.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the Connect Sensor+ power-on sequence and simulated sustained wireless transmission load. The BMS did not trip on probe initialisation, and cell voltage held within the device's operating window under continuous telemetry draw.
- Pre-deployment calibration cycle: After installing this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment. The Connect Sensor+ maps battery state during that sequence, and skipping it causes premature low-battery warnings on the first measurement session — even with a full pack installed.
BMS lockout after the Connect Sensor+ sat unused in a carry case for months
Li-SOCl2 cells build a passivation layer on the anode during storage. When the device first tries to draw current after a long idle period, internal resistance spikes — the BMS reads this as a fault condition and cuts output. This is not a dead battery. The fix is a controlled low-current pulse: connect the device, allow the initial startup attempt, wait 60 seconds, then try again. After two or three short draw cycles the passivation layer breaks down and cell voltage recovers to normal operating range above 6.8V.
Readings drifting or resetting mid-session during a logging run
Sustained sensor load — particularly when multiple probes are active alongside wireless transmission — creates a combined current draw that can pull cell voltage below the Connect Sensor+'s internal reset threshold. The device doesn't show a battery warning; it just resets or drops a data point. This happens more often in cold environments where Li-SOCl2 cells have higher internal resistance. If mid-session resets occur, check that the device firmware is current, as older firmware versions have more aggressive voltage-dropout detection — and confirm cell voltage reads above 6.5V at rest before the next deployment.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Connect Sensor+ powers on fine but shuts down the moment it starts a USB data transfer to a PC — is this a battery fault?
Yes. USB data transfer adds a second current draw on top of whatever sensor or wireless task is already running — the combined load pulls cell voltage down fast, and the device's undervoltage protection trips before the transfer completes. This is more likely with an aged or partially discharged pack. Charge or replace the battery, then confirm resting voltage is at or above 7.0V before initiating the transfer.
The battery percentage on the Connect Sensor+ display bounces around between readings at startup — it shows 80%, then 40%, then 60% within minutes of a fresh install.
The Connect Sensor+ uses a voltage-threshold indicator to estimate charge state, and a new Li-SOCl2 cell has a very flat discharge curve. The device takes several short load cycles before its threshold table maps accurately to the new cell's behaviour. Run the instrument through a full calibration cycle from the menu — this gives the device enough discharge samples to settle the indicator. The percentage will stabilise after one or two completed sessions.
The Connect Sensor+ will not power on at all after the unit was stored for several months with the old battery still installed — swapping in the new pack didn't immediately fix it.
If the old pack discharged below the BMS recovery threshold during storage, the device's power circuit may be in a lockout state that a simple swap won't clear. Remove the new battery, wait 30 seconds, reinstall it, then hold the power button for a full 10 seconds on first press. This longer press forces the BMS initialisation sequence rather than a standard boot. If the device still does not respond, check the battery contacts for oxide build-up and clean with isopropyl alcohol before retrying.
