Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Somfy Nina IO Touch Display & 5121348B — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (981642)

This 3.7V, 600mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the OEM battery in the Somfy 5121348B remote and the Nina IO 1805251 Touch Display controller. Both devices use the same 981642 cell to power the wireless transmitter and onboard display. If your motorized shade controller has stopped responding or shows a low battery warning, this is the cell that restores it.

  • 5121348B and Nina IO 1805251 compatibility: Both remotes share the same 981642 cell format — identical voltage rail, connector pinout, and physical dimensions (43.40 × 16.50 × 9.50mm). No adapter or modification is needed to fit either device.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Nina IO platform. The onboard BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the display powered on cleanly at full charge state.
  • Post-install reconnection on the Nina IO: The Nina IO runs a mesh re-join sequence after any power interruption. After swapping the battery, leave the controller undisturbed for 60 seconds before pressing any button — interrupting that sequence forces a manual re-pair through the app.

Somfy remote going offline immediately after a battery swap

The Nina IO and 5121348B both transmit a network re-join packet the moment power is restored. If the hub doesn't acknowledge that packet — because the device moved too fast through the boot sequence or the hub was busy — the remote shows as offline. This isn't a battery fault. The fix is to hold the remote stationary for 60 seconds after install, within range of the hub, before initiating any command. If it's still offline after that, trigger a re-pair from the Somfy app — the device should appear at 3.7V and register cleanly.

New battery triggers a low-charge alert straight away

Li-polymer cells lose voltage during warehouse storage — a cell that sat for several months may read 3.4V or lower at install. The Somfy controller compares battery voltage against a threshold, and anything below approximately 3.5V can trigger the low battery indicator even on a brand-new cell. Connect the remote to its charging dock or cable for 30–60 minutes before use. Once voltage climbs above the alert threshold, the warning clears without any reset.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Somfy Nina IO went offline right after I put the new battery in — why won't it reconnect to the hub?

The Nina IO broadcasts a mesh re-join signal the moment power is restored. If the hub misses that broadcast — because the device was moved or a button was pressed during boot — the remote drops off the network. Wait 60 seconds with the remote stationary and in range of the hub. If it's still missing from the app after that, open the Somfy app and re-pair the device manually; it should register at 3.7V without any further steps.

The new battery seems to be draining much faster than the original — what's causing that?

Fast drain on a fresh 600mAh cell usually points to polling frequency, not the cell itself. If your Somfy hub is set to query the remote at short intervals — or if the remote is at the edge of RF range and retransmitting frequently — current draw climbs well above standby levels. Check your hub's device polling interval in the app and reduce it if it's set below 5 minutes. Moving the hub closer to the remote cuts retransmit overhead and noticeably slows drain.

My Nina IO remote shows a low battery warning even though I just installed a fresh cell — is the battery faulty?

It's almost certainly not faulty. Li-polymer cells self-discharge during storage, and a cell that's been on a shelf for several months can arrive below 3.5V — below the threshold the Nina IO uses to trigger its low battery alert. Place the remote on its charging dock for at least 30 minutes. Once the cell climbs back above the alert voltage, the warning clears on its own without any reset or re-pair needed.
