Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sonel KT-670 / KT-640 / KT-560 — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (WAAKU18)
This is a 10.8V 3400mAh Li-ion replacement for the Sonel WAAKU18 battery pack. It fits the KT-670, KT-640, and KT-560 thermal imaging cameras. Swap it in when the original pack no longer holds charge through a full inspection job.
- KT-670 / KT-640 / KT-560 compatibility: All three cameras run the same 10.8V bus and use the same WAAKU18 form factor with an identical connector and BMS communication protocol — one battery covers the whole platform.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack under combined display and thermal detector load. The BMS held voltage above the cutoff threshold through continuous imaging cycles and did not trip on the detector heating element draw that typically spikes at startup.
- Detector warm-up protocol: After powering on, let the camera stabilise for 60 seconds before starting measurements. The uncooled thermal detector needs the internal electronics to reach a steady temperature — readings taken too early will drift and will not reflect the battery's actual charge state accurately.
Why the KT-670 shuts down mid-inspection on a new battery
The KT-670 draws current from two separate loads simultaneously: the display backlight and the detector's internal heating element. At startup, that combined draw creates a brief current spike that can trip the BMS protection circuit if the pack's internal resistance is too high. A genuine WAAKU18-spec cell handles this surge without dropping below the BMS cutoff threshold. If the camera is shutting down immediately after boot or during the first scan, check that the battery contacts are clean and making solid contact — oxidised terminals add resistance and push the voltage drop past the protection threshold.
Thermal accuracy degrading before the low-battery indicator appears
The thermal detector in the KT-670 is voltage-sensitive. As cell voltage sags under continuous load, the detector's temperature reference can shift before the camera's fuel gauge registers a low-battery warning. This means measurements can drift by several degrees while the battery indicator still shows adequate charge. If readings become inconsistent or calibration warnings appear more frequently, check actual pack voltage with a multimeter — anything below 10.0V under load signals the pack needs replacement, regardless of the on-screen indicator.

Frequently Asked Questions
My KT-670 powers off suddenly during an inspection even though the battery indicator wasn't showing low — what's causing that?
The combined current draw from the display and the detector heating element can spike high enough to trip the BMS protection circuit, even when the pack appears sufficiently charged. This happens most often when cell voltage is sagging under load but the on-screen gauge hasn't caught up. Clean the battery contacts first — oxidised terminals add enough resistance to push the voltage drop past the protection cutoff. If shutdowns continue, measure pack voltage under load; a healthy cell should hold above 10.0V during active imaging.
Thermal readings are drifting and showing inconsistent temperatures, but the battery looks fine — could the battery be the cause?
Yes. The uncooled detector in the KT-670 relies on stable voltage to maintain its internal temperature reference. As a degraded or partially discharged cell sags under continuous load, that reference shifts and introduces measurement error before the battery indicator reacts. This is a voltage-sensitivity issue, not a calibration fault in the camera itself. Measure the pack voltage with a multimeter while the camera is actively scanning — replace the battery if it drops below 10.0V under that load.
The battery housing feels noticeably warm after 30–40 minutes of use — is that normal or a sign of a problem?
Some warmth is expected. The KT-670's detector heating element runs continuously, and the display adds to the thermal load inside the housing — both draw constant current, which generates heat at the cell. What to watch for is heat concentrated at the battery seam or connector, which points to high contact resistance rather than normal cell warming. If the camera also triggers an over-temperature warning or reduces display brightness to compensate, reseat the battery and inspect the contacts for corrosion before continuing field use.
