Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony CCD-CR1E / Cyber-shot DSC Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NP-F10 / NP-FS11)
This 3.7V, 1440mAh Li-ion cell replaces the NP-F10, NP-FS10, NP-FS11, and NP-FS12 batteries used across Sony's CCD-CR1E camcorder and Cyber-shot DSC lineup including the DSC-P20, DSC-F505K, and DSC-F55V. The cell matches OEM voltage and physical form factor. Capacity is 1440mAh (5.33Wh) as rated.
- NP-FS series cross-compatibility: The NP-FS10, FS11, and FS12 share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture and connector pinout across Sony's InfoLithium-S platform. That shared BMS communication protocol is why one cell covers both camcorder and Cyber-shot DSC bodies without a hardware change.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a DSC-series body. The BMS handshake completed on first insertion, the InfoLithium charge-remaining display updated correctly, and protection circuitry triggered at the expected low-voltage cutoff.
- First-cycle initialisation on Sony InfoLithium bodies: On Sony InfoLithium-compatible cameras, charge the replacement cell fully through the camera body or OEM charger before your first shoot. The body uses that initial charge cycle to calibrate the battery-remaining percentage against the new cell's discharge curve — skipping it causes the indicator to read inaccurately for several cycles.
Sony InfoLithium BMS rejecting a third-party cell on first install
Sony's InfoLithium system sends a data signal between the battery and body to verify cell identity before enabling the shutter or record function. A fresh replacement cell that has never been charged may return a signal the body interprets as a fault, triggering a "battery exhausted" or no-power state on first insertion. This is not a dead cell — it's the BMS waiting for a valid charge state. Insert the battery into the OEM charger or camera body and run one complete charge cycle. After that cycle, the body registers the cell as valid and the indicator tracks normally.
Battery percentage jumping or dropping suddenly mid-shoot
The NP-FS series InfoLithium indicator maps battery percentage to a specific discharge voltage curve stored in the camera body's firmware. A replacement cell with a slightly different internal resistance profile discharges along a curve that doesn't align exactly with those stored thresholds — the body sees an unexpected voltage drop and recalculates percentage sharply downward. This typically stabilises after two or three full charge-discharge cycles as the BMS learns the new cell's actual curve. If jumping persists past three cycles, discharge the battery fully in the camera, then charge to 100% without interruption to force a full recalibration at 4.2V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F505K shows "battery exhausted" the moment I insert the new NP-FS11 replacement — is the cell dead?
The cell is almost certainly fine. Sony's InfoLithium BMS performs an authentication check on insertion, and a new, uncharged replacement often returns a voltage low enough that the body refuses to power on. Place the battery in the OEM charger or camera body charger and run one complete charge to 4.2V before testing again. After that first full charge, the body accepts the handshake and the camera powers on normally.
The battery percentage on my DSC-P20 reads 80%, then jumps straight to 10% and the camera shuts off — what's causing that?
The DSC-P20 maps percentage to fixed voltage thresholds on its discharge curve. A replacement cell with slightly different internal resistance hits those thresholds at different charge states, causing the display to skip large chunks of the scale. Run two to three full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body to let the firmware recalibrate against the new cell's actual curve. If the jumping continues after three cycles, fully drain the battery in-camera until shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%.
My CCD-CR1E records noticeably fewer shots in cold weather on this replacement — is the capacity wrong?
Cold temperatures increase internal resistance in Li-ion cells, which causes voltage to sag faster under load — the BMS reads that sag as low battery and cuts power before the cell is actually depleted. This affects all Li-ion chemistry and is more pronounced in compact single-cell packs like the NP-F10. Keep the camera body warm between shots (inside a jacket, not a bag pocket) and the usable capacity recovers significantly. The rated 1440mAh capacity is a room-temperature figure; cold-weather draw will always read lower regardless of cell brand.
