Replaces Sony LP491232L100 battery for PSP-N270 and PSP-N270G wireless headsets.
This 3.7V, 200mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers 0.74Wh — adequate for standard DECT call sessions on this compact headset.
Connector slides into the battery compartment with a single locking tab; orientation marked inside the headset housing.
We bench-tested the BMS on a PSP-N270 base station; handshake completed in two charge cycles with stable voltage discharge.
Charge the headset in the base station for one full cycle before taking calls — DECT headsets need the base to recognise the new cell before talk-time estimates stabilise.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony PSP-N270 Wireless Headset — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (LP491232L100)

This 3.7V, 200mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original LP491232L100 battery in the Sony PSP-N270 and PSP-N270G DECT wireless headsets. It fits the compact housing exactly — 32.82 x 11.88 x 4.90mm — so no modification is needed. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or fails to register in the base station.

  • PSP-N270 and PSP-N270G compatibility: Both headset variants use the same LP491232L100 cell, the same connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol with the Sony base station. One cell covers both models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the PSP-N270 platform. The BMS completed its handshake with the base station, and the charge indicator cleared without error on every test run.
  • First-charge protocol for DECT headsets: Seat the headset in the base station and let it complete one full charge cycle before taking a call. The base station needs that first cycle to log the new cell and calibrate its talk-time estimate accurately.

Base station not recognising the new pack after fitting

The PSP-N270 base station reads battery state through a BMS handshake before it begins charging. If the replacement cell arrives at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — the base may show no charge activity or a fault indicator on first seating. This is not a faulty cell. Remove the headset, reseat it firmly, and leave it undisturbed for a full charge cycle. The handshake completes once current starts flowing and the BMS registers the pack.

Headset cuts out mid-call even with a charged battery

The PSP-N270 draws current from two simultaneous loads — the DECT radio transmitter and the audio amplifier. Under that combined draw, a degraded or shallow-cycled cell can sag below the BMS cutoff threshold even when the base station showed a full charge. The headset interprets this voltage drop as a dead pack and shuts off to protect the cell. If this happens on a new battery, run three to five full charge and discharge cycles — capacity and sag resistance improve as the cell conditions. Check that the base station contact pins are clean and making firm contact before ruling out the cell itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

The base station shows a full charge but the headset switches off after a few minutes of use — is the new battery faulty?

Almost certainly not. A cell delivered at storage voltage can show full charge on the base station indicator before it has completed a true conditioning cycle. The combined DECT radio and audio draw then pulls the cell below the BMS cutoff faster than expected. Run three to five complete charge and discharge cycles in normal use — talk time and cutoff behaviour stabilise as the cell conditions. If the problem persists after five cycles, check that the headset contacts are seating cleanly against the base station pins.

The headset gets noticeably warm during long calls — is that normal with this battery size?

A small amount of warmth is expected. The LP491232L100 is a 200mAh cell packed into a very compact housing, and it sustains combined load from both the DECT transmitter and the audio circuit throughout a call. That sustained draw in a tight enclosure produces more surface heat than you would feel on a larger pack. If the headset becomes hot enough to be uncomfortable, check that the headset's ventilation slots are clear and that the base station is not continuing to charge while the headset is in active use — some Sony DECT bases trickle-charge in the cradle, which adds to the thermal load.

Talk time is noticeably shorter than rated on new replacement battery — does this cell need breaking in?

Yes. Li-Polymer cells typically reach full rated capacity after three to five complete charge and discharge cycles, not on the first use. The PSP-N270 base station's talk-time estimate also recalibrates over those early cycles, so the indicator may appear pessimistic at first. Use the headset normally — full calls, then return it to the base — and capacity will improve cycle by cycle. By cycle five, talk time should be at or close to the rated figure.
