Fits Sony VAIO VGN-C140G/B and replaces VGP-BPL2A/S, VGP-BPL2C/S, VGP-BPS2A/S, VGP-BPS2C/S battery packs.
11.1V at 6600mAh delivers 73.26Wh — sustains full CPU and display load without throttle cutoff.
Connector slot accepts original Sony pack orientation; locking tab seats flush against the bay wall.
We bench-tested this cell at full discharge into a C140G load — BMS held 11.1V down to cutoff with no premature shutdown.
After installation, run one complete discharge to sleep mode then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears false health warnings that appear after cell swaps on Sony platforms.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony VAIO VGN-C Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (VGP-BPS2A/S)

This 11.1V, 6600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cells in Sony VAIO VGN-C series notebooks. It fits models including the VGN-C140G/B, VGN-C150P/B, VGN-C190, and VGN-C190P/H, along with 70+ additional VAIO C-series variants. OEM part numbers covered include VGP-BPL2A/S, VGP-BPL2C/S, VGP-BPS2A/S, and VGP-BPS2C/S.

  • VAIO VGN-C series compatibility: These models share a common 11.1V three-cell-series architecture and the same physical connector with identical BMS handshake signalling. One cell pack covers the full VGN-C line without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a VGN-C series unit and confirmed the BMS negotiated correctly, accepted a full charge to 12.6V, and did not trigger a protection cutoff during CPU and display load testing.
  • Post-installation calibration on VAIO C-series: After fitting this battery, run the notebook on battery power down to automatic hibernate, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the false "poor health" or "unknown battery" flag that commonly appears after any cell swap on this platform.

VAIO VGN-C shutting down at 20–30% charge remaining after battery swap

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a faulty cell. Under combined CPU and display load, the new cell's voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC expects based on the old cell's discharge curve. The BIOS interprets that voltage dip as a critically low state of charge and forces a shutdown — even though the gauge still reads 20–30%. Running two full calibration cycles trains the fuel gauge IC against the new cell's actual discharge profile and eliminates the premature shutdown.

BIOS reporting incorrect Wh rating after fitting this cell

The Wh figure shown in BIOS or Windows battery report is read from EEPROM data embedded in the old cell's BMS chip — not recalculated from the new battery's actual chemistry. When you swap cells, the EEPROM value from the previous pack may persist in firmware until the learn cycle completes. After one full discharge-to-hibernate and uninterrupted charge to 100%, the system recalculates and displays the correct 73.26Wh rating. If the figure still reads incorrectly after two cycles, check that the battery connector is fully seated and the BMS contact pins are clean.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Sony VAIO VGN-C shows the new battery as "unknown" or 0% in Windows — what's happening?

The fuel gauge IC is reading EEPROM data from the old cell, so it has no baseline for the new chemistry yet. Run the laptop on battery down to automatic hibernate, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this is the BIOS battery learn cycle. After one or two full cycles, Windows will recognise the cell and display an accurate state of charge.

The VAIO VGN-C fuel gauge is jumping around wildly — it reads 60%, then 40%, then 75% within minutes. Is the replacement cell defective?

It is not a defective cell. The fuel gauge IC calibrates its discharge model against cycle history, and a new cell has none. The IC is interpolating inaccurately until it maps the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity curve. Run two complete discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles without interruption. After the second cycle the gauge readings will stabilise within a few percent.

The replacement battery charges to around 80% then stops — VAIO VGN-C won't reach 100%.

This is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a fault with the cell. Sony VAIO firmware on C-series notebooks includes a battery care mode that caps charging at roughly 80% when enabled. Open VAIO Control Center, navigate to the battery care function settings, and switch the charge mode from "Standard Charge" to "Full Charge." Once changed, the cell will charge to the full 12.6V endpoint.
