This is an 18V Li-ion replacement battery rated at 3000mAh (54Wh) for the Starmix L18V TOP, ISC L 36-18V, and ISC M 36-18V Safe cordless tools. It slots into the same battery bay as the original pack and communicates with the onboard BMS via the same contact interface. The ISC 36-18V models draw from two 18V packs in series — this battery is the individual 18V cell unit within that system.

• L18V TOP and ISC series compatibility: All three models share the same 18V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The ISC L and ISC M variants use a dual-pack architecture to achieve 36V — each slot accepts the same 18V unit independently. Swapping one or both packs does not require recalibration of the host tool.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated motor-start inrush events on a drill platform and confirmed the BMS handles the trigger-pull current spike without tripping into overcurrent lockout. Cell voltage recovery between pulls was consistent across the test sequence.

BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush in the ISC 36-18V dual-pack system

In a 36V dual-pack configuration, both 18V packs must deliver matched inrush current simultaneously when the motor starts. If one pack has a weaker cell group or higher internal resistance, its BMS can trip on the imbalance before the other pack even reaches its threshold. This causes the tool to cut out instantly on trigger pull rather than during sustained load. Swapping both packs for fresh units eliminates the mismatch — running one new and one degraded pack together worsens the condition.

Charger not recognising the pack after storage

Li-ion packs stored below around 2.5V per cell fall beneath the threshold most chargers accept for a standard charge cycle. The charger sees the low voltage as a fault condition and refuses to initiate. To recover, some chargers include a recovery or wake mode — hold the battery on the charger contact for 30–60 seconds without pressing anything and check whether the charge LED sequence changes. If the pack sits above 3.0V per cell but the charger still blinks a fault code, clean the contact terminals with a dry cloth and reseat the pack firmly.
