Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mafell KSS 40 18M bl PURE / ROMAX 4000 Series — 18V Li-ion 3000mAh Replacement Battery
This is an 18V, 3000mAh (54Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Mafell KSS 40 18M bl PURE im T-MAX compact circular saw and the broader ROMAX series. It fits the KSS 50 18M bl PURE im Transportkoffer, ROMAX Axial, and 21 additional Mafell 18V platforms sharing the same battery interface. Voltage and connector match the OEM pack directly.
- KSS and ROMAX platform compatibility: These models share a common 18V battery rail, connector latch geometry, and BMS communication protocol — which is why one pack spans the full lineup. The cell count and discharge curve stay consistent across the KSS and ROMAX families, so the BMS handshake completes without tool-side firmware rejection.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through motor-start inrush cycles on circular saw loads. The BMS held stable through repeated trigger pulls without tripping overcurrent cutoff. Cell voltage balance across the pack stayed within 30mV after sustained discharge.
- Motor inrush conditioning on first use: On first use, run the KSS 40 at half load — shallow crosscuts, no full-depth plunge — for two cycles before maximum load applications. This allows the BMS to register the motor's inrush current signature and set overcurrent thresholds accordingly before you push the saw to full depth in hardwood.
BMS cutoff on KSS 40 motor-start inrush surge
The KSS 40 blade motor draws a spike of current in the first 50–100ms of each trigger pull — this is normal inrush behaviour for a brushless motor under load. If the BMS has not yet profiled the motor's draw, or if the pack has been in storage, it may interpret that spike as a fault and cut output. A fresh pack coming off a full charge cycle is less likely to trip because cell impedance is at its lowest point. If cutout happens on trigger pull, fully charge the pack and run two light-load cycles before attempting full-depth cuts.
Charger not recognising the pack after storage
Li-ion cells that have sat uncharged for several months can drop below the charger's acceptance voltage threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. When this happens, the Mafell charger blinks an error rather than beginning a charge cycle. The fix is to check whether any other 18V Mafell-compatible charger on a recovery or boost mode can nudge the pack above the acceptance threshold. Once cells read above roughly 2.8V per cell, the charger should recognise the pack and begin normal CC/CV charging.

Frequently Asked Questions
My KSS 40 cuts out the moment I pull the trigger on a full-depth cut — what's happening?
This is a BMS overcurrent trip caused by the motor-start inrush spike hitting the pack's protection threshold before the BMS has calibrated to the motor's draw. It happens most often with a new or freshly stored pack. Run two or three shallow cuts first — short crosscuts at reduced depth — to let the BMS log the inrush signature. After those conditioning cycles, the pack handles full-depth trigger pulls without dropping out.
The saw feels sluggish and bogs down halfway through a cut even with a charged battery — is this a battery fault?
This is voltage sag — under sustained high-current draw, cell internal resistance causes the pack voltage to drop below what the motor controller needs to maintain blade speed. Check the battery contact rails on both the pack and the tool for debris or corrosion, as increased contact resistance amplifies sag. If contacts are clean, the issue is likely capacity fade in the old pack — a fresh 3000mAh pack at full charge will hold the voltage rail through longer cuts. Confirm pack voltage under load reads above 16.5V; anything lower under load indicates a tired cell group.
The battery charges fine indoors but the KSS 40 loses power fast on cold job sites — what's the cause?
Below 5°C, Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply, which reduces the current the pack can deliver before voltage sag kicks in — the cells are not failing, they are just cold. Store the pack inside or in a vehicle until just before use, and avoid leaving it on the tool between cuts in freezing conditions. Once the pack warms back to above 10°C, output returns to normal levels. If you are regularly working below 5°C, allow a 15-minute warm-up period before putting the pack under full circular saw load.
