Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sunrise Oxford Voyager Portable Hoist — 24V Sealed Lead Acid Replacement Battery (CSA05107)
This is a 24V 2300mAh (55.2Wh) sealed lead acid replacement battery for the Oxford Voyager Portable Hoist, Voyager Lift, and A8500 series. It powers the electric lifting mechanism that raises and lowers patients during transfers and repositioning tasks. Fits models listed under OEM part numbers CSA05107 and VOY A8500.04.
- Oxford Voyager / A8500 platform fit: The Voyager, Voyager Lift, and A8500 share the same 24V sealed lead acid power rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake requirements — which is why a single cell covers all three variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through charge and load cycles on the Voyager platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the lifting mechanism cycled through its full range without voltage sag triggering a cutoff event.
- Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the hoist to complete its power-on self-test without interrupting the sequence. The device runs a BMS verification at startup — cutting power mid-sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.
Why the Voyager alarms low battery on a freshly charged replacement cell
The Voyager's BMS uses a learned voltage curve to assess battery state. A new sealed lead acid cell hasn't completed a conditioning cycle, so its charge acceptance and discharge curve don't yet match the BMS reference profile. The controller reads the unfamiliar response as a low-capacity condition and triggers the alarm even when the cell is fully charged. Running one complete charge-discharge cycle lets the BMS calibrate to the new cell and clears the false alarm.
Hoist will not power on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Sealed lead acid cells self-discharge during storage. If the resting voltage drops below approximately 20V, the Voyager's BMS will refuse to initialise — the controller treats anything below this threshold as a deeply discharged or faulty cell. Connect the battery to a compatible 24V SLA charger and allow a slow recovery charge before reinstalling. Once voltage recovers above the BMS acceptance threshold, the hoist will power on and complete its startup sequence normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Voyager hoist is alarming low battery immediately after I fully charged the new battery — what's happening?
This is a BMS calibration issue, not a faulty cell. The Voyager's charge controller compares the battery's voltage response against a stored profile built from the previous cell — a brand-new sealed lead acid battery won't match that profile on the first cycle. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the hoist before clinical use, and the BMS will reset its reference to the new cell. After that first full cycle, the low battery alarm clears.
The hoist shuts off unexpectedly mid-lift during the first few uses — is the battery failing?
New sealed lead acid cells deliver their rated capacity after a break-in period, not immediately. In the first 5–10 cycles, the cell's internal resistance is slightly higher than its rated spec, which means the Voyager's load profile during a lift cycle can cause a momentary voltage sag that trips the BMS cutoff. This is normal behaviour for an unconditioned cell, not a defect. Run several charge-discharge cycles away from clinical use to condition the battery, and the mid-lift shutoffs will stop.
The charge indicator on the Voyager never reaches 100% on the new battery — should I be concerned?
No — the charge IC applies a conservative upper limit when it encounters a new cell with an unrecognised charge history. The controller holds back the full charge acceptance until it has logged at least one complete cycle. Charge the battery fully, run the hoist through a normal use cycle until the low-battery indicator activates, then charge again to 100%. After that first full cycle the charge indicator will reach 100% consistently.
