Why the TekBook 822 shuts down at 20–30% after a battery swap

The BIOS fuel gauge IC retains capacity data from the old, degraded cell. When you fit a new cell, that stale data causes the system to miscalculate the remaining charge floor. Under combined CPU and display load, the laptop hits what it thinks is empty while the new cell still has usable charge left. Running two or three full discharge-to-recharge cycles recalibrates the fuel gauge IC against the actual capacity of the replacement cell and stops the premature shutdowns.

The health warning comes from EEPROM data written by the old cell — not from any fault in the replacement.
