Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Tobias IQ150 Paper-Chek — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (HHR6)
This is a 7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Tobias IQ150 Paper-Chek portable moisture meter. It slots directly into the IQ150 and restores full operating power for paper moisture measurement in quality control and field environments. Voltage and capacity match the original HHR6 specification.
- IQ150 Paper-Chek platform fit: The IQ150 runs a single-pack 7.2V rail with a BMS that monitors cell voltage during probe initialisation. This replacement uses the same six-cell Ni-MH configuration as the HHR6, so the BMS handshake completes without fault codes or power interruptions at startup.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through repeated probe activation cycles on the IQ150. The BMS held stable across measurement sessions, and voltage stayed within the instrument's operating threshold under sustained sensor load.
- Calibration cycle before field use: After installing, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before deploying to site. The IQ150 maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings to appear on your first measurement session, even with a fully charged pack.
BMS cutoff at probe initialisation on the IQ150
When the IQ150 powers up its moisture probe, there is a brief current spike as the sensor circuit initialises. A degraded or deeply discharged pack can drop below the BMS cutoff threshold at that exact moment, killing the instrument before it reaches the measurement screen. This is not a fault with the meter itself — it is the BMS protecting cells that can no longer sustain the surge. A fresh pack at full charge handles the spike without voltage sag. If the instrument still cuts out after fitting this replacement, charge the new pack fully before retrying — Ni-MH cells should sit at or above 8.0V open-circuit before first use in the IQ150.
IQ150 not recognising new pack after the meter sat unused for months
Ni-MH packs self-discharge over storage, and if the original battery dropped below roughly 5.0V during long inactivity, the IQ150's BMS may have entered a sleep state it will not exit on its own. Fitting this replacement will not automatically wake the BMS if the instrument itself is in a locked-out state. Plug the IQ150 into its charger for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on — the charger voltage pushes the BMS out of sleep mode. Once the instrument confirms charging activity on screen, disconnect, then power on normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
My IQ150 Paper-Chek powers on fine but resets mid-measurement — what's causing that?
This is a voltage dropout under sustained sensor load, not a startup fault. The moisture probe draws continuous current during a measurement session, and if the pack has degraded cells, voltage sags below the instrument's operating threshold mid-reading and triggers a reset. Fitting a fresh HHR6-spec pack resolves it — but run the full calibration cycle through the instrument menu first so the IQ150 correctly maps the new pack's voltage curve before your next session.
Readings are drifting and then the display freezes during a logging run — is that a meter fault or a battery fault?
That pattern points to the battery, not the meter. During extended logging, the IQ150 maintains continuous probe power and simultaneously writes data — the combined draw causes incremental voltage sag on a weak pack, which corrupts the sensor signal before the instrument fully shuts down. A new pack at full charge eliminates the sag. Charge completely before a logging session and verify the voltage reads at or above 8.0V open-circuit before connecting the probe.
New battery fitted but the IQ150 won't charge — charger light stays off or flashes immediately.
If the pack arrived after shipping in a partially discharged state, some IQ150 chargers will not initiate a charge cycle below a minimum voltage threshold. Leave the battery in the instrument, connect the charger, and wait up to 45 minutes — some chargers apply a trickle current first to bring the pack to a recoverable voltage before switching to full charge. If the charger still shows no activity after 45 minutes, check the charger contacts and the pack terminals for oxidation, then clean with a dry cloth before reconnecting.
