Fits Toshiba Gigashot GSC-K80H, GSC-A40F, GSC-K40H, GSC-A100F camcorders; replaces GSC-BT7 and GSC-BT6 batteries.
7.4V 2400mAh lithium-ion pack delivers full capacity for extended video recording and playback on compact Toshiba camcorders.
Connector slots into battery compartment with positive contact facing inward; locking tab secures pack flush against camera body frame.
We bench-tested this cell in the GSC-K80H; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion without requiring a firmware update or reset cycle.
On first use, charge the cell fully inside the camera body or OEM charger before extended shooting — Toshiba camcorders calibrate battery-percentage display during the initial charge cycle from within the device.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Toshiba Gigashot GSC-K80H / GSC-A100F Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (GSC-BT7)

This is a 7.4V, 2400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Toshiba Gigashot compact camcorder range. It fits the GSC-K80H, GSC-K40H, GSC-A40F, and GSC-A100F models, which all share the same OEM battery format. The OEM part numbers are GSC-BT7 and GSC-BT6.

  • Gigashot K and A series compatibility: These four camcorder models share a common battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The same 7.4V cell and communication circuit works across all four without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the GSC-K80H body. The BMS negotiated correctly, the camera accepted the cell without error flags, and voltage under record load stayed within spec.
  • First-use charge cycle on the Gigashot body: Toshiba's Gigashot BMS maps battery-remaining display against a learned discharge curve. Charge this cell fully inside the camera body on first use — not an external charger — so the system calibrates the fuel gauge to the new cell correctly from the start.

Gigashot battery indicator stuck at full or dropping suddenly to empty

The Gigashot series uses a voltage-threshold method to estimate remaining charge. A new third-party cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the aged OEM cell it replaces. The camera maps the same voltage thresholds onto a different curve, which causes the indicator to either plateau near full or drop abruptly in the final third of discharge. One full charge-to-empty cycle run entirely in the camera body resets the threshold reference and corrects the display behaviour.

Gigashot showing no battery or rejecting the cell on first install

Some Gigashot units require the battery to complete at least one charge handshake via the OEM charger or camera body before the BMS accepts a new cell as valid. If the camera shows a blank battery icon or powers off immediately after insert, the cell's authentication register has not yet been initialised. Place the battery in the camera, connect the AC adapter, and allow a full charge cycle to complete. After that first charge, the camera body recognises the cell and the error clears — no further steps needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Gigashot GSC-K80H battery percentage jumps around erratically — shows 80% then suddenly drops to 10% mid-recording. What's causing this?

The Gigashot maps battery remaining using fixed voltage thresholds, and a new cell has a flatter discharge curve than a worn original — so the same voltage readings land at different points on the curve. The indicator looks accurate at the top of charge, then falls off a cliff in the lower third. Run one complete charge-to-empty cycle inside the camera body with the AC adapter, and the BMS recalibrates its reference to the new cell's actual curve.

The replacement battery depletes noticeably faster when I'm recording in cold weather. Is something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong — cold temperatures raise the internal resistance of Li-ion cells, which causes voltage to sag faster under the combined draw of the sensor, processor, and recording codec. The Gigashot's BMS reads that sag as low state of charge and cuts off earlier than it would at room temperature. Keep a spare cell in an inside jacket pocket while shooting in the cold, and swap cells when the camera warns low — the warmed spare will deliver its full capacity immediately.

The Gigashot records fine but the flash is slow to recycle between shots on the new battery. What's going on?

Flash recycling draws a sharp current spike to recharge the capacitor, and that spike causes a voltage dip on cells that are past the mid-point of their discharge. At end of charge the cell can sustain the draw; below roughly 7.0V under load, the dip is wide enough that the capacitor recharge circuit throttles back and recycle time lengthens. Check the battery indicator before a flash-heavy session — if it reads below half, swap to a fresh cell to maintain consistent recycle speed.
