Fits Toshiba Gigashot GSC-R60AU, GSC-R60, GSC-R30AU, and GSC-R30 cameras replacing BSC-BT5 and GSC-BT5 batteries.
7.4V lithium-ion cell rated 1200mAh delivers 8.88Wh — sufficient for sustained video and photo capture on these compact camcorders.
Connector slides into the camera battery bay with a single locking tab; orientation marked on the cell housing aligns with the slot.
We ran a full discharge cycle through the GSC-R60AU body; the BMS accepted the cell without fault and cycled through normal voltage regulation.
On first insertion, charge the battery fully inside the camera body using the OEM charger — Toshiba Gigashot bodies require an internal charge handshake to display accurate battery percentage on the LCD.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Toshiba Gigashot GSC-R60AU Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BSC-BT5)

This is a 7.4V, 1200mAh Li-ion battery for the Toshiba Gigashot camcorder range. It fits the GSC-R60AU, GSC-R60, GSC-R30, and GSC-R30AU models. The BSC-BT5 and GSC-BT5 are the OEM part numbers this cell replaces.

  • GSC-R30 and GSC-R60 shared battery platform: Both the R30 and R60 variants — including their AU market versions — use the same battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. A single cell covers all four models because the voltage rail and handshake spec are identical across the range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the GSC-R60AU body and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell, reported state-of-charge correctly, and held voltage above 6.8V through discharge. No BMS rejection or false low-battery trigger occurred during testing.
  • First-use charge cycle on the Gigashot: Run the first full charge from within the camera body or the OEM Toshiba charger — not a generic USB adapter. Some Gigashot bodies need one charge cycle completed through the OEM circuit to calibrate the battery-remaining indicator to the new cell's discharge curve.

Gigashot dead-battery indicator triggering on a partially charged cell

The Gigashot range maps its battery-remaining display to voltage thresholds calibrated against the original Toshiba cell's discharge curve. A new third-party cell can have a slightly different mid-discharge voltage profile, causing the indicator to read empty before the cell is actually depleted. This is a BMS mapping issue, not a capacity fault. Running two or three full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body resets the threshold mapping and brings the display back into alignment.

Camera body showing "no battery" on a valid, charged replacement

The Gigashot BMS runs an authentication check on first contact with a new cell. If the body hasn't completed a handshake with this cell before, it can return a no-battery or incompatible error even when the cell is fully charged. Remove the battery, reinsert it firmly, and power the camera on again. If the error persists, place the cell in the OEM charger until the charge indicator confirms a full charge at 8.4V, then reinsert — this satisfies the handshake requirement.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Gigashot GSC-R60AU shows the battery percentage jumping around erratically — is the replacement cell faulty?

The percentage jumping is a voltage-threshold mapping issue, not a cell defect. The Gigashot's indicator is calibrated to the discharge curve of the original Toshiba cell, and a new cell's curve won't match it exactly on the first few cycles. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body and the display will stabilise as the BMS recalibrates to the new cell's profile. No replacement or return needed.

The flash on my Gigashot isn't recycling fully between shots — it fires but the output looks weak on the second and third shot.

Flash capacitor recharge draws a burst of current after every shot. If the cell's voltage sags under that load — common toward the end of a discharge — the capacitor doesn't fully recharge before the next shot, and output drops. Check the battery indicator before a shoot; if it's below 50%, swap to a fresh cell. A fully charged cell at 8.4V will sustain consistent flash output across a session.

My shot count is far lower than expected — the battery drains much faster than the original did.

The GSC-R60AU draws from the battery across multiple systems simultaneously — the image sensor, video processor, optical zoom motor, and image stabilisation. Continuous video recording with stabilisation active is the heaviest combined load the platform runs. The 1200mAh rating reflects capacity under standard test conditions; sustained video with stabilisation on will exhaust the cell faster than the rated figure. Switch stabilisation off during static shots to reduce draw and extend each charge cycle.
