Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sanyo Xacti DMX-HD800 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (DB-L40)
This is a 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion cell built to the DB-L40 specification. It fits the Sanyo Xacti DMX-HD800, DMX-HD2, DMX-HD1A, and VPC-HD1 compact HD camcorders, plus seven additional Xacti models. Capacity matches the OEM rating exactly — 900mAh / 3.33Wh.
- Xacti HD series compatibility: These camcorders share the same DB-L40 cell footprint, 3.7V nominal rail, and battery connector pinout across the lineup. One cell covers the full range without any wiring or adapter changes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the Xacti BMS charge cycle and confirmed the protection circuit trips correctly at both high-voltage cutoff and low-voltage discharge floor. No unexpected shutdowns occurred during sustained HD video recording.
- First-use charge cycle on Xacti bodies: Insert the new cell and charge fully inside the camcorder body before shooting. The Xacti battery-remaining indicator maps to a learned discharge curve — one full in-camera charge cycle lets the BMS calibrate the gauge accurately for this cell.
Battery percentage jumping on the Xacti HD800 display
The DMX-HD800 maps its battery indicator to voltage thresholds set during the first charge cycle. A new cell has a slightly different resting voltage curve than a worn OEM cell, so the indicator can skip between levels until the BMS recalibrates. Run one complete charge-to-full then record until the body shuts down automatically. After that single cycle, the display tracks the actual state of charge accurately against the new cell's discharge profile.
Xacti body warm during sustained HD recording on a new cell
The DMX-HD800 pulls current simultaneously from the image sensor, video processor, and optical image stabilisation system during HD recording. This combined draw is higher than still-capture mode and generates heat at both the cell and the body chassis. If the body feels warm after extended clips, pause recording for 60–90 seconds to let the processor thermal load drop. Check that the cell voltage hasn't sagged below 3.4V under load — sustained sag below that threshold signals a cell that needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
The DMX-HD800 shows a dead battery icon immediately after I insert a fully charged replacement — what's happening?
The Xacti BMS performs a voltage handshake on insertion and can reject a new cell if it doesn't see an expected resting voltage within its acceptance window. This usually happens when the replacement cell has been sitting discharged in storage. Place the cell in the camcorder, connect the OEM charger, and let it run a full charge cycle from inside the body — the BMS resets its acceptance state once it sees a charge current flowing, and the dead-battery icon clears.
My shot count on the HD800 is noticeably lower than the original battery even though capacity is the same — why?
Shot count is affected by more than cell capacity. The DMX-HD800 draws extra current when optical image stabilisation is active, when recording in continuous HD mode, or when writing large files to a slow memory card — the card-write buffer pulls sustained current on top of the sensor load. A 900mAh cell will deliver fewer shots under those combined loads than the spec implies. Disable stabilisation when shooting on a tripod and use a Class 10 or UHS-I card to reduce write-buffer current drain.
The battery percentage on my Xacti drops from 80% to 20% in one jump — is the cell faulty?
This is a calibration issue, not a cell fault. The DMX-HD800's fuel gauge maps percentage to voltage thresholds learned from the previous cell's discharge curve. A new cell with a flatter mid-range discharge curve crosses those thresholds at different points, making the indicator skip. Perform one full discharge cycle — record continuously until the body powers off automatically, then charge fully. The BMS recalibrates its threshold map and the percentage display stabilises from the second cycle onward.
