Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Toshiba Portege 7140CT Series — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PA3000UR)
This is a 10.8V, 3000mAh Li-ion battery for the Toshiba Portege 7140CT and related Portege 7000 series ultraportable notebooks. It replaces OEM part numbers PA3000UR, PA3001U-1BRM, PA2505, PA3000U-1BRS, and PA3001. Capacity is 32.4Wh — matching the original cell specification.
- Portege 7000 series compatibility: The Portege 7000, 7020CT, 7140CT, and 7220CT all share the same 10.8V three-cell battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits all these models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a Portege 7140CT. The BMS communicated correctly with the system board, reported state-of-charge accurately after two calibration cycles, and held voltage above the low-battery cutoff threshold throughout discharge.
- Post-install calibration on the Portege platform: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge until the laptop hibernates on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears immediately after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting poor battery health after fitting a new cell
The Portege 7000 series stores battery health data in EEPROM on the system board, not on the cell itself. When a new cell goes in, the BIOS compares current readings against the old cell's stored history and flags the battery as degraded or unknown. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is a stale data mismatch. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% overwrites the old EEPROM values and clears the warning within one to two cycles.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% remaining on the gauge
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The gauge reads 20–30% but the cell has already dropped below the minimum voltage the CPU and display load require — typically around 9.5V under full draw on this platform. The system shuts down before the OS can respond. Run two full calibration cycles — full discharge to hibernate, full charge to 100% each time — and the fuel gauge IC will map the new cell's curve correctly, moving the shutdown point back to the correct threshold near 0%.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Portege 7140CT shows the new battery as "0%" or "unknown" in the OS — is the cell faulty?
No — the Portege 7000 series holds the previous cell's EEPROM health data on the system board, and the OS reads that stale record instead of the new cell's actual state. Run one full discharge until the laptop hibernates on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one or two cycles the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell and the reading corrects itself.
Windows shows my Portege battery charging only to 80% and then stopping — what's causing that?
The Portege 7000 BIOS includes a charge-limit firmware function that caps charging at 80% when it detects what it interprets as a degraded or unfamiliar cell profile. This is a BIOS-controlled behaviour, not a fault with the replacement cell. Enter the BIOS setup, locate the battery or power settings section, and disable any charge-limit or battery care mode that is enabled. After disabling, the cell will charge to 100%.
The Portege 7140CT's battery gauge jumps wildly between percentages for the first few uses after I replaced the cell — is something wrong with the BMS?
Nothing is wrong. The fuel gauge IC on this platform was calibrated to the old cell's specific voltage-to-capacity curve. A new cell has a slightly different curve, so readings appear erratic until the IC recalibrates. We saw the same behaviour on the bench — it settled after two full discharge-and-charge cycles. Discharge fully to hibernate cutoff, charge to 100% twice in a row, and the gauge will track accurately from that point.
