This is a 3.7V, 2200mAh Li-ion battery for the Toshiba Portege G710 pocket PC. It replaces OEM part number BTE5700 and fits the G710 directly. The G710 is a mid-2000s handheld PDA used for scheduling, contact management, and document viewing on the go.

Why the Portege G710 won't boot after a battery swap

The G710 boot sequence requires a minimum voltage threshold before the processor initialises. A new replacement cell ships in a partially discharged state — sometimes below that threshold. If the device shows nothing on power-up after a swap, connect it to the OEM charger and allow at least 15–20 minutes of charge before attempting to boot. Do not interpret a blank screen at first power-on as a faulty battery.

Wireless sync dropping or failing after a new battery install

The G710's radio stack is voltage-sensitive. When cell voltage sits below roughly 3.6V, the wireless radio may fail to maintain a stable connection or refuse to initialise entirely. This appears as a sync timeout or a missing network in ActiveSync. Charge the device to full before attempting wireless pairing or data transfer. A full charge cycle resolves this in most cases without any driver or firmware change.

Yes, and it is a known characteristic of this platform. The G710 holds active application data and open files in SRAM, which is powered directly by the main battery. The moment the old cell is removed, that memory loses power and clears. Always perform a full ActiveSync backup to your host PC before removing the battery, and restore from that backup after the new cell is installed.

My G710 screen stays blank after fitting the new battery — the device won't turn on at all.

Replacement cells ship partially discharged and can arrive below the minimum voltage the G710 needs to start its boot sequence. Connect the device to the original charger and leave it for at least 20 minutes before pressing the power button. If the charge indicator light comes on, the battery is recognised and the device will boot once voltage climbs past the startup threshold — typically around 3.5V.

Battery life on the G710 seems much shorter when I'm using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi sync — is the new cell faulty?
