Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Toshiba Qosmio F50 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PA3640U-1BRS)
This is a 14.4V, 4400mAh (63.36Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Toshiba Qosmio F50 series laptop. It covers the Qosmio F50, F50-01U, F501, F50-108, and over 31 additional variants using OEM part numbers PA3640U-1BRS, PA3640U-1BAS, PABAS151, and PABAS121. It slots into the same bay as the original and connects to the same charging circuit.
- Qosmio F50 series compatibility: These models share a common 14.4V power rail, identical battery bay dimensions, and the same BMS handshake protocol — one cell works across all listed variants without any hardware modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Qosmio platform, confirming the BMS communicates correctly with the Toshiba power management controller and charge current steps down cleanly at full capacity.
- Post-install calibration on the Qosmio F50: After fitting, run one full discharge until the laptop hibernates on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that typically appears after every cell swap on this platform.
Qosmio F50 shutting down at 20–30% charge shown
The F50 runs a high-draw load — discrete GPU, dual storage, and a large backlit display all pulling current simultaneously. When the cell voltage drops under that combined load, it hits a cliff point where voltage sags below what the system can sustain, even though the fuel gauge still shows 20–30%. The BIOS reads instantaneous voltage, not averaged capacity, and trips a shutdown before the gauge catches up. One full calibration cycle — full discharge to hibernate, uninterrupted charge to 100% — closes the gap between the fuel gauge IC estimate and the actual cell state.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after replacement
The Qosmio F50 BIOS stores cycle count, charge history, and health status in EEPROM on the battery itself. When a new cell arrives, that EEPROM either reads as blank or carries initialisation data the BIOS flags as a mismatch. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is the BIOS comparing old stored data against a new cell signature. Charge the battery to 100%, discharge fully to hibernate, then charge again without interruption; after one or two complete cycles the BIOS recalibrates and the health warning clears.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Toshiba Qosmio F50 fuel gauge is jumping around wildly after fitting the new battery — shows 47%, then 82%, then 30% within minutes. What's wrong?
The fuel gauge IC on the F50 builds its capacity model from logged charge and discharge history stored in the old cell's EEPROM. With a new cell installed, that history is gone and the IC is interpolating against nothing. The readings stabilise after two to three full charge and discharge cycles as the IC recalibrates its internal model against the new cell's actual behaviour. Run two full cycles — discharge to hibernate cutoff, charge uninterrupted to 100% — and the gauge will settle.
System information in Windows shows the wrong Wh rating for the new battery — it says 48Wh but the cell should be 63.36Wh. Is the battery faulty?
The Wh figure Windows displays is pulled from the EEPROM data embedded in the battery, which records the rated capacity of the original cell chemistry at the time of manufacture. A replacement cell using current Li-ion chemistry at 63.36Wh may carry different EEPROM values than the original, causing the OS to report a lower number. This is a data-field mismatch, not a capacity fault — the cell delivers its full 63.36Wh regardless of what the system info panel shows. Confirm actual capacity by running a full discharge cycle and checking how long the cell sustains load before hitting the hibernate threshold.
The replacement battery on the Qosmio F50 won't charge past 80% — it just stops there. Is there a setting causing this?
Several Toshiba BIOS versions include a charge limit function that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell wear during extended mains use. Check the Toshiba Power Saver or BIOS setup utility under the battery section — there is typically a toggle labelled "Battery charge mode" or "Eco charge". Switch it from Eco or 80% mode to full charge mode, then unplug and reconnect the adapter. The battery will then charge to 100%.
