Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Unitech PT630 / HT630 / PT650 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (633808510046)
This 3.7V 900mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Unitech PT630, PT630D, HT630, and PT650 handheld barcode scanners. These scanners are used in retail, logistics, and warehouse pick-and-pack operations where continuous scan throughput matters. The cell matches the voltage rail, physical footprint (52.69 × 37.00 × 7.26mm), and connector used across the PT630 family.
- PT630 / HT630 / PT650 platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V single-cell architecture, and BMS communication protocol — the pack swaps without firmware prompts or handshake errors across all listed variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-burst sequences and monitored BMS cutoff thresholds under combined imager and wireless radio draw. The protection circuit held stable cutoff at the correct low-voltage floor with no false trips.
- First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before putting it on the floor. The scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum charge — a fully pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips during the first pick-and-pack shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
The PT630 cradle reads pack state through the dock contacts on the battery base. If those contacts have oxidation or debris from a previous worn-out cell, the dock detects abnormal resistance and flags a charge fault — not a dead battery. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle slot with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. If the error clears within 30 seconds, contact resistance was the cause, not the cell itself.
Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
Fast back-to-back scanning on the PT630 pulls current from two loads simultaneously — the imager or laser and the wireless radio. At high scan rates, this combined draw causes a brief voltage sag on a partially discharged cell. The BMS can read that sag as an under-voltage event and throttle output, which cuts the radio first before the imager. Keeping the pack above 30% charge during active shifts eliminates the sag margin that triggers this. Check the battery indicator before each shift starts.

Frequently Asked Questions
My PT630 won't read barcodes right after I swapped the battery — imager fires but nothing registers
The imager on the PT630 needs the cell above a minimum voltage to sustain enough power for a valid decode. A freshly installed pack that shipped partially discharged can sit just above the BMS cutoff floor — enough to power the trigger and light, but not enough for a clean read. Place the scanner in the cradle for a full charge cycle before use. Once the pack is fully charged, the imager power stabilises and scans register normally.
The scanner gets noticeably warm during long shifts — is something wrong with the battery?
Warmth is normal on the PT630 during sustained use because the housing is compact and encloses both the wireless radio and the imager with minimal airflow. The combined draw from continuous scanning and wireless polling generates heat that the casing absorbs. If the scanner becomes too hot to hold comfortably, that signals the cell is working harder than normal — usually because the pack capacity has faded and it is compensating. Check the charge level; if it drains faster than it used to, the original battery has degraded and this replacement pack is the fix.
This battery seems to run out faster than the old one did on day shifts — same scan volume, same environment
A new cell running shorter than the original usually means the original was already significantly degraded when you were measuring against it — the comparison baseline was wrong, not the new pack. New Li-ion cells also perform below their rated capacity for the first three to five full charge-discharge cycles while the chemistry stabilises. Run three complete cycles — full charge, active use to below 20%, full recharge — before drawing conclusions. Capacity should settle at or above the rated 900mAh after that break-in period.
