Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Falcon PT40 PDT Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (633808510046)
This 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion battery fits the Falcon PT40 PDT, PT40, and PT40-100 handheld barcode scanners. These units are common in retail stockrooms, distribution centres, and logistics operations where the scanner runs through full shifts on a single charge. The cell matches OEM dimensions at 52.69 × 37.00 × 7.26mm and slots directly into the original battery bay.
- PT40 series platform fit: The PT40, PT40-100, and PT40 PDT share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell works across all three variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through scan-trigger inrush events and wireless polling loads. The BMS held cutoff correctly at low-voltage threshold and recovered charge acceptance normally through the cradle.
- Pre-shift charging on the PT40: After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before the first pick-and-pack shift. Scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell sits near minimum charge, and starting the shift with a full cell prevents false BMS trips during rapid early-shift scanning.
Cradle charging error on a fresh PT40 pack
The PT40 cradle reads battery state through spring-loaded dock contacts on the base of the scanner. If those contacts have oxidation or debris from warehouse use, the dock reports a charging fault even when the cell is healthy. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery door and the cradle cup with a dry cloth before reseating. If the error clears after reseating, the cell was never at fault — the contact resistance was high enough to trigger the dock's fault logic.
Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
On the PT40, the wireless radio and the scan trigger draw current simultaneously during a fast scan sequence. A depleted or degraded cell can't sustain both loads at once — voltage sags below the radio module's minimum and the connection drops mid-burst. This is not a firmware issue. Charge the replacement cell fully before use and confirm resting voltage reads at least 3.6V before the shift starts. A freshly charged cell handles the combined inrush without the sag that kills the radio link.

Frequently Asked Questions
My PT40 scanner won't read barcodes after I swapped the battery — laser comes on but no decode. What's wrong?
The imager or laser on the PT40 needs stable voltage above a minimum threshold to process a decode — if the replacement cell shipped partially discharged, the voltage is too low to complete the scan even though the device powers on. Put the scanner in the cradle and charge it fully before attempting any scanning. We saw the same behaviour on the bench: power-on works well below the voltage that scan decoding requires. Check that resting voltage is at or above 3.6V before pulling the scanner off the cradle.
The PT40 feels noticeably warm after a full warehouse shift — is that a battery problem or a device problem?
Warmth after a sustained shift is normal on the PT40 because the wireless radio and scan trigger run together inside a compact, enclosed housing with limited heat dissipation. The battery contributes when it's working through high scan-burst frequency — combined draw raises cell temperature more than either load alone. If the housing is uncomfortably hot to hold or the scanner powers off from heat, check that the battery contacts are clean and making full contact, since high contact resistance adds heat at the pack. A properly seated, fully charged cell keeps internal resistance low and reduces thermal build-up over a long shift.
The replacement battery charges on the cradle but the PT40 is running out of charge much faster than the old one did mid-shift — what's causing that?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling both pull from the cell simultaneously, and the actual drain depends heavily on how the device is configured — high polling rates or backlight settings left at maximum will shorten shift endurance noticeably. Confirm the cradle LED cycled to a full-charge indication before pulling the scanner; a partial charge reads as full on some cradle models. If endurance is still short after a confirmed full charge, wipe the battery bay contacts — even moderate contact resistance causes the cell to work harder and depletes faster than the capacity spec predicts.
