Two AA Ni-MH cells in series fit cordless DECT phone handsets requiring 2.4V power restoration
2.4V and 600mAh capacity deliver standard talk time on single charge cycles before NiMH voltage sag occurs under RF load
Cylindrical AA form factor seats directly into the handset battery compartment without adapter or modification needed
We bench-tested this pack on a base charger accepting 2.4V input; BMS-free NiMH chemistry charged to full voltage within expected timeframe
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Universal AA x 2 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery for Cordless Phones

This is a 2.4V 600mAh Ni-MH battery pack built from two AA-sized rechargeable cells. It fits cordless phone handsets that take a standard AA x 2 configuration. Dimensions are 49.25 x 28.51 x 14.36mm — check your existing pack against these before ordering.

  • AA x 2 cordless phone compatibility: Many cordless handset models share this cell format because the 2.4V rail matches the charging circuit built into DECT base stations. Same voltage, same footprint — that's why one pack covers a wide range of brands.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a DECT handset base. The NiMH cells accepted the trickle charge without triggering a fault light, and voltage held steady at 2.4V under the handset's standby draw.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells shipped in partial-discharge state need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this shortchanges your available talk time from day one.

Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement

NiMH cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they hit rated capacity. The cells arrive from storage with partial charge, so the first cycle rarely delivers full performance. Run the handset until it prompts you to charge, then return it to the base for a complete charge — repeat this three times. By cycle four, the pack should be delivering its full 600mAh.

Base station showing no-charge or error light with new pack

Some DECT base stations read cell voltage before committing to a charge cycle. A pack that has self-discharged below roughly 2.0V during storage can fall under that acceptance threshold, causing the base to show an error or simply do nothing. Pull the handset out, wait 30 seconds, and reseat it firmly — a full contact reset often triggers the charge circuit to retry. If the error persists, check that the contacts on the handset and base are clean and making solid connection.

Frequently Asked Questions

My cordless phone lost range right after I put this new battery in — what's happening?

NiMH voltage sags under the RF transmit load before the cells are fully conditioned. When voltage dips, the handset reduces transmit power to protect the circuit, which cuts range. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles first. After conditioning, voltage sag under RF load drops significantly and range returns to normal.

The handset won't re-pair with the base after I swapped the battery — is the phone broken?

No — many DECT handsets lose their pairing data when power is completely removed, even briefly. The swap broke the power long enough to clear the handset's memory. Consult your phone's manual for the re-registration steps; most involve holding a button on the base while the handset searches, then confirming with a PIN (default is usually 0000).

The battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — why?

The handset is not making a solid connection with the base charging contacts. A handset that isn't fully seated draws on the battery for standby instead of running off the base supply. Remove the handset, wipe both the handset and base contacts with a dry cloth, and reseat it until you feel or hear it click into position — the charging indicator should light within a few seconds.
