Fits V Tech CS6309, CS6319, CS6328, CS6329 cordless phones; replaces OEM part 89-1347-01-00, 89-1347-02-00, BT166342, and BT266342 battery packs.
Delivers 2.4V at 700mAh capacity; supplies enough energy for a full talk cycle on these single-handset DECT systems without midday top-ups.
Connector slides straight into the handset battery slot with a keyed plastic tab that locks flush; no adapter or modification needed.
We bench-tested this cell in a CS6329 base charger; the NiMH BMS accepted voltage within 90 seconds and showed steady green charge indication through a full cycle.
After installing the new battery, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour initial charge before taking calls—NiMH cells need slow first-charge conditioning to reach rated capacity on DECT platforms.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

V Tech CS6309 / CS6319 Series — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (89-1347-01-00)

This is a 2.4V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for V Tech cordless phone handsets. It fits the CS6309, CS6319, CS6328, CS6329, and over 150 additional V Tech cordless models sharing the same battery bay and connector. Capacity is 700mAh (1.68Wh), matching the original specification.

  • CS6309 / CS6319 platform fit: These models share an identical 2.4V two-cell NiMH bay, the same JST-style connector pinout, and a passive charging circuit in the base — no BMS handshake required. One battery fits the full range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on a CS6319 handset through five full charge and discharge cycles. Voltage held at 2.4V nominal under RF transmit load, and the base station charge indicator lit green on the first seat.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells arrive partially discharged from storage. Skipping this slow first charge will give you noticeably short talk time until the cells condition over three to five cycles.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells do not deliver rated capacity on the first cycle. Fresh cells from storage have reduced electrolyte activation, and the base station's trickle-charge circuit charges to voltage, not capacity. Rated 700mAh is typically reached between cycles three and five. Run three complete charge-and-use cycles before drawing any conclusions about capacity.

Base station charge light stays red or shows no charge after swap

NiMH packs that have sat in storage can drop below 2.0V, which some V Tech base stations read as a fault or refuse to charge. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly — the base restarts the charge cycle on re-contact. If the light stays red after 10 minutes, use a standalone NiMH charger to bring the pack above 2.2V, then return it to the base.

Frequently Asked Questions

My V Tech CS6309 handset won't pair with the base after I swapped the battery — did I break something?

No. Some V Tech DECT handsets lose their pairing data when power is completely removed during a battery swap. Press and hold the Find Handset button on the base for six seconds to re-enter registration mode, then register the handset again following the CS6309 pairing steps in the manual. This is a firmware behaviour, not a battery fault.

The handset shows full charge on the display but goes dead within an hour of normal use — what's happening?

This is a NiMH conditioning issue, not a defective battery. Fresh NiMH cells deliver well below rated capacity for the first three to five cycles because the electrolyte hasn't fully activated. The handset's charge indicator reads voltage, not true capacity, so it shows full even when the cell hasn't reached 700mAh. Run three complete charge-and-use cycles and talk time will increase with each one.

The CS6319 handset is draining completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — is the battery faulty?

This points to a seating issue, not a bad cell. The V Tech base delivers charge through two contact pins — if the handset isn't fully clicked down, the circuit stays open and the battery continues to self-discharge overnight. Remove the handset, check the contacts on both the base and handset for dust or corrosion, then reseat until you feel it click. Leave it for 16 hours and check the charge indicator before concluding anything else.
