Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vivitar ViviCam 3945S — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NP-900)
This is a 3.7V, 600mAh lithium-ion replacement for the OEM NP-900 battery cell. It fits the Vivitar ViviCam 3945S and several other ViviCam compact digital cameras including the 3830, 5340s, and V45. Dimensions are 43.70 × 31.30 × 7.00mm — verify against your original cell before ordering.
- ViviCam compact platform fit: The ViviCam 3945S, 3830, 5340s, and V45 share the same battery bay geometry and voltage rail. All run the NP-900 footprint, so one cell covers the group without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the ViviCam body and monitored BMS handshake on first charge. The protection circuit triggered correctly at cutoff voltage and the camera body accepted the cell without error flags on subsequent power-on.
- First-use charge protocol for ViviCam BMS: Run the first full charge cycle inside the camera body using the original charger cable, not a third-party USB adapter. The ViviCam BMS calibrates its fuel gauge against the charge curve during this first cycle — skipping it causes the battery indicator to read inaccurately throughout the cell's life.
Why the ViviCam 3945S battery indicator jumps erratically after replacement
The ViviCam's battery display maps percentage to voltage thresholds calibrated against the discharge curve of the original cell. A new replacement cell — even at the same rated capacity — discharges along a slightly different voltage slope until it is broken in. This mismatch makes the indicator skip from 80% to 20% without warning, or hold at full then drop suddenly. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body and the gauge mapping stabilises against the actual cell curve.
ViviCam showing "no battery" with a freshly inserted replacement cell
This happens when the cell arrives at or near the BMS low-voltage lockout threshold — typically below 3.0V — after sitting in storage. The camera cannot draw enough current to boot and flags the bay as empty rather than reporting a low charge state. Do not assume the cell is faulty. Place it in the camera, connect the OEM charger, and allow a minimum 15-minute charge before powering on. If the camera accepts charge and the LED activates, the cell is functional.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ViviCam 3945S battery percentage jumps from 75% straight to 5% with no warning — is the replacement cell defective?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The ViviCam fuel gauge maps percentage to fixed voltage thresholds, and a new cell's discharge curve doesn't align with those thresholds until it's been cycled. The indicator reads the voltage drop as a sudden cliff rather than a gradual slope. Run two full charge-discharge cycles inside the camera body and the display will track more accurately against the actual remaining charge.
Shot count is noticeably lower than what I got from the original battery — what's pulling the extra current?
The rated 600mAh capacity is measured under a steady low-current draw, not real shooting conditions. On the ViviCam 3945S, flash recycling, continuous autofocus, and LCD-on shooting all pull current simultaneously and well above the baseline test load. Cold ambient temperatures above roughly 15°C drop below also reduce usable capacity because Li-ion internal resistance rises. Turn off the LCD preview when not composing and use flash only when necessary — those two changes reduce per-shot draw more than any other setting.
The flash isn't recycling fully between shots — I'm getting washed-out, underexposed frames halfway through a shoot.
Flash capacitor recharge draws a short but high current spike from the cell each time. As the cell's state of charge drops past roughly 3.5V, it can no longer sustain that recharge spike fast enough, and the capacitor fires before it reaches full charge. The result is a dimmer flash output and underexposed frames. This isn't a fault in the replacement cell — it's voltage sag under peak load. Charge the battery fully before any flash-heavy session, and allow a one-to-two second pause between flash shots to give the capacitor time to reach full charge at lower current draw.
