This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When screen brightness or the modem spikes current draw, the new cell's voltage briefly dips below the shutdown threshold — even though the reported percentage looks safe. The OS sees a voltage cliff, not a capacity reading. Run one full discharge to 0% and a full charge to 100% without interruption; the coulomb counter resets and the shutdowns stop.
Phone warm near the battery compartment on the first charge cycle
A new cell starts with higher internal impedance than a broken-in one. The charge IC pushes current into that resistance, and the extra energy dissipates as heat in the first one or two cycles. Surface warmth — not hot to the touch — during the first full charge is normal and reduces as the cell breaks in. If the phone becomes too hot to hold, disconnect immediately and check that the replacement cell dimensions match the originals — a misfit cell sitting against other components traps heat.

Run one uninterrupted full discharge to 0% followed by a full charge to 100%. That forces the coulomb counter to remap against the new cell, and the premature shutdowns stop.
The V530 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?
Most likely the cell discharged below 2.5V in storage and the BMS locked out to prevent damage. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC on most compact smartphones trickle-charges a locked-out cell back above 2.8V before the BMS re-initialises and allows normal boot. If the phone still shows nothing after 45 minutes on charge, check the charger output with a different device to rule out the cable.
The battery percentage on my V530 jumps around erratically — it reads 60%, then drops to 40% in seconds without any use.
This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against a cell it has no history with. The IC uses a stored discharge model from the old cell; the new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve does not match, so percentage estimates swing wildly under load. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles without interrupting them mid-way. After the second full cycle the IC has enough data points to track the new cell accurately, and the percentage stabilises.
