Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vocera Communications Badge B1000 / B2000 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (230-000532)
This is a 3.7V 800mAh Li-ion battery for the Vocera Communications Badge B1000 and B2000. Both badges use the same cell format, connector, and BMS handshake, so one part number covers both platforms. Capacity matches the OEM spec at 2.96Wh.
- B1000 and B2000 shared platform: Both badge generations run the same 3.7V power rail, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS communication protocol. Vocera did not change the battery architecture between these two models, so part number 230-000532 applies to both without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Vocera badge BMS initialisation sequence. The protection circuit responded correctly to charge termination, over-discharge cutoff, and the badge's startup current draw. No false low-battery flags appeared after the first full charge-discharge cycle.
- Post-swap self-test cycle: After installing this battery, let the badge complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The Vocera BMS runs a verification routine at startup — cutting power mid-sequence causes a persistent false battery fault that won't clear until the next complete reboot.
Device not completing boot sequence on new battery
The Vocera badge runs a BMS verification check during every power-on sequence. A new cell that hasn't completed its first full charge-discharge cycle may not yet meet the internal state-of-charge threshold the badge expects at boot. The badge interprets this as a marginal battery and stalls or loops the boot sequence. Run one complete charge to 4.2V, then allow the badge to power on and discharge through normal use before placing it in clinical rotation.
Charge indicator not reaching 100% on the first charge
The Vocera charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it detects a new or recently stored cell. This is intentional — the charger is protecting against an unknown internal resistance state. The result is that the first charge terminates early, showing 90–95% rather than full. A second full charge cycle allows the charge IC to recalibrate its termination threshold, after which the indicator reaches 100% normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
The badge shows a low battery alarm seconds after I put in a freshly charged replacement — what's happening?
The Vocera BMS compares the cell's state-of-charge signature against a stored threshold calibrated to the OEM chemistry. A new cell that hasn't completed one full cycle doesn't yet produce the voltage curve the BMS expects, so it flags low battery even when the cell is fully charged. This isn't a fault with the replacement cell — it's the BMS not yet recognising the new cell's profile. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle and the alarm will stop triggering.
The badge won't power on at all after the battery sat unused for a few months — is the cell dead?
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if voltage drops below the BMS recovery threshold (typically around 2.5V), the protection circuit locks out and blocks power delivery entirely. The cell isn't necessarily damaged — it just needs a recovery charge. Place the battery in the Vocera charger and leave it for a full charge cycle without interrupting. If the charger recognises the cell, voltage will recover to a functional level and the badge will power on normally.
The badge is shutting off unexpectedly mid-shift even though the battery shows adequate charge — what causes this?
New cells under the load profile of a clinical communication badge — frequent transmit bursts, display wake cycles, wireless keepalive — experience higher internal resistance in the first 10 charge cycles than they will after break-in. This causes momentary voltage sag during peak draw that trips the BMS under-voltage cutoff, even when resting voltage looks fine. The shutoffs become less frequent as the cell completes its initial cycles. Track behaviour over the first five to ten full charge cycles before drawing any conclusions about the cell.
