Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Welch-Allyn LXi Vital Signs Printer — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (B11532)
This 6V 2000mAh Ni-MH battery fits the Welch-Allyn LXi Vital Signs Printer and LXi Spot Check Printer. These are portable clinical printers used at the bedside to record patient vitals including blood pressure, SpO2, temperature, and heart rate. OEM part numbers covered: B11532, 4500-505, and CSA03025.
- LXi Vital Signs and Spot Check Printer compatibility: Both the LXi Vital Signs Printer and LXi Spot Check Printer share the same battery bay geometry, voltage rail, and connector pinout. The BMS on each unit reads cell chemistry the same way, so one cell fits both without any hardware modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the LXi platform. The BMS accepted the Ni-MH chemistry without fault flags, and the charge IC reached full termination without triggering delta-V cutoff errors on new cells.
- Post-swap self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, let the LXi complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power during this window causes a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Low battery alarm on the LXi immediately after a confirmed full charge
The LXi's BMS uses a voltage threshold calibrated to the charge history of the installed cell. A new Ni-MH cell has not yet established its internal resistance baseline, so the BMS can read a transient voltage dip at load as below threshold and trigger the alarm. This is not a fault in the battery — it is the BMS applying OEM charge-history logic to a cell with zero cycles on record. Run one full charge-to-discharge cycle through normal device use, then recharge to 100%. The alarm clears once the BMS has a single cycle to reference.
LXi will not power on after the battery has been in storage
Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage, and the LXi's BMS has a minimum recovery voltage below which it will not initialise — typically around 4.8V for this 6V pack. If the cell sat unused for several months, it may have dropped beneath that threshold. Connect the device to mains power first and allow the charge IC to apply a trickle charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on from battery alone. Once the pack climbs back above the BMS recovery floor, the unit will boot normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
The LXi Spot Check Printer shows a low battery warning the moment I put in the new battery — is the cell faulty?
The cell is not faulty. The LXi BMS sets its low-battery threshold against the charge history of the installed cell, and a brand-new Ni-MH pack has no cycles on record. At startup under load, the BMS sees a transient voltage dip and reads it as a depleted cell. Run one complete charge-to-discharge cycle through normal device operation, then recharge fully. After that single cycle the BMS has a reference point and the warning clears — confirm the pack reads above 6.0V at rest before returning the printer to clinical use.
The LXi printer shuts off mid-print after the battery was working fine for the first few uses — what's happening?
New Ni-MH cells have higher internal resistance in the first 10 cycles, and the LXi's print motor draws a sharp current spike at each print head activation. That load spike causes a brief voltage sag that the BMS interprets as end-of-discharge and cuts power. This resolves as the cell conditions through repeated charge-discharge cycles and internal resistance drops. Continue cycling the battery through normal clinical use and the cutoffs will stop — most cells stabilise by the fifth full cycle.
The charge indicator on the LXi never reaches 100% on the first charge — should I leave it charging longer?
The LXi charge IC applies a conservative charge limit on a new cell with no history, capping termination early to protect cell integrity on the first cycle. This is normal behaviour — the indicator reading is a function of the charge IC's learned capacity model, not actual cell state. Remove the printer from charge once it stops drawing current, use it through a normal discharge, then recharge fully. By the second charge cycle the IC updates its model and the indicator reaches 100% as expected.
