Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Wolf Garten Cordless Shrub & Hedge Shear — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 6000mAh li-ion cell replaces part numbers 7086-918, 7085066, 7085918, 7086918, BS 100, and 5031-M6-0011. It fits the Wolf Garten Power 100 cordless shrub and hedge shear, along with the Classic 60 Mit, BS80 Plus, and MTD5031-M6-0016 among others. Voltage and capacity match the original 22.2Wh specification exactly.

  • Shared platform compatibility: The Power 100, Classic 60 Mit, and BS80 Plus all run the same 3.7V rail with an identical connector footprint and BMS communication protocol, which is why one cell covers the full range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran full charge/discharge cycles — the BMS held voltage steady under cutting load and triggered the low-voltage cutoff cleanly without a hard drop-off.
  • No break-in required for li-ion: Unlike older NiMH packs, this chemistry delivers full capacity from the first charge — no cycling ritual needed before putting the shears to work.

Why cell dimensions matter in compact hedge shear handles

The Power 100 uses a narrow handle cavity — 66.40 x 40.00 x 18.60mm is the precise envelope this cell must fit. A cell even slightly outside those tolerances will bind against the housing or leave the connector misaligned. This replacement is sourced to that exact dimension, not approximated from a similar-looking pack.

Shear won't power on after storage — here's what's happening

Li-ion cells stored below roughly 2.5V trip an over-discharge lockout in the BMS, and the shear shows no signs of life even when placed on charge. The fix is to connect the charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes — the BMS uses a trickle recovery phase to bring the cell back above the threshold before resuming normal charging. If the shear still won't respond after that window, the cell has likely dropped below the point of safe recovery and needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Wolf Garten Power 100 starts cutting then slows down and almost stops mid-hedge — is that the battery dying or something else?

At 3.7V with a 6000mAh cell, that mid-cut dropout is almost always voltage sag under blade load — the battery can't sustain output when the shear hits a thick stem or dense growth. Check the blade pivot first: a stiff or dirty pivot forces the motor to draw harder, which collapses a weakened cell faster than clean cutting would. If the shear runs fine on light growth but bogs on anything thicker, the cell has lost capacity and can no longer hold voltage under real load. Charge the battery fully, then cut a known section of hedge and note exactly when it slows — if it happens within the first few cuts, the cell is the problem, not the blades.

The shear cuts fine but the hedge looks ragged and uneven — could that be a battery issue or is it the blades?

A low-capacity or partially discharged 3.7V cell delivers inconsistent motor speed, which causes the blades to reciprocate unevenly and leave a torn rather than a clean cut. This gets mistaken for blade damage constantly, but the first test is simple: run the shear on a full charge and compare the cut quality to the same hedge later in the session. If the cut degrades as the session goes on, the cell is losing voltage under sustained use and the motor speed is dropping with it. Start with a full charge and clean, lubricated blades — if the ragged cut only appears later in the session, the battery is the cause.

I left my Power 100 in the shed all winter and now it won't turn on even after charging — is it completely dead?

Li-ion cells left discharged for months can drop below the protection circuit's minimum recovery threshold, which makes the shear appear completely dead even after a charge cycle. The charger may not register the battery at all, or it may show a full charge that disappears the moment you press the trigger. We've seen 3.7V single-cell packs in this capacity range become unrecoverable after a full winter in a cold, discharged state — the cell voltage falls too low for a standard charger to initiate a charge cycle. Put the battery on the charger and watch for any LED activity within the first two minutes; no response at all means the cell is below recovery threshold and needs replacing.
