Fits Xiaomi MiPad 7.9 and A0101 models, replaces OEM part number BM60.
3.8V, 6500mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers full tablet runtime on standard charge cycles.
Connector attaches flat against the mainboard with a friction-fit design and no locking tab.
We bench-tested the BMS on a MiPad 7.9 A0101 — voltage regulation stayed stable through full discharge and the fuel gauge IC accepted the new cell without errors.
After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% to recalibrate the fuel gauge against the new cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Xiaomi MiPad 7.9 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BM60)

The BM60 is a 3.8V, 6500mAh lithium-polymer cell for the Xiaomi MiPad 7.9 tablet. It fits the standard MiPad 7.9, MiPad 7.9 WiFi, and A0101 variants including the 16GB model. This battery replaces the original when the tablet fails to hold charge, shuts down unexpectedly, or no longer powers on from a depleted state.

  • MiPad 7.9 and A0101 compatibility: The MiPad 7.9, MiPad 7.9 WiFi, and A0101 variants share the same physical cell footprint, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Swapping between these models is not necessary — one BM60 cell covers all listed variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the BM60 through charge and discharge cycles on a MiPad 7.9 unit. The BMS accepted the charge cycle without fault flags, and the charge IC reached full cutoff at the correct 4.35V ceiling.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After fitting this battery, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff without plugging in, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This single full cycle resets the fuel gauge IC against the new cell and eliminates the inaccurate percentage readings that typically appear after a battery swap.

Tablet shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery swap

The MiPad 7.9 drives a backlit display and active WiFi simultaneously, which creates a combined load spike that can pull cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold before the fuel gauge reads zero. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell — so its percentage estimate does not match the new cell's actual voltage. When real voltage drops under load, the BMS trips before the reported percentage reaches 0%. One full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resyncs the gauge to the new cell's curve.

Fast charging not available after fitting the BM60

Xiaomi's fast charge protocol requires the charger and the device to complete a handshake negotiation. On a freshly installed cell, this negotiation sometimes fails during the first charge cycle because the BMS has not yet completed an accepted full charge event. Plug the tablet into the original Xiaomi charger and allow one full charge from low battery to 100% without interruption. After that cycle completes, fast charge negotiation resumes normally on subsequent sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MiPad 7.9 shows a different battery percentage every time I restart it after the swap — what's causing that?

The fuel gauge IC in the MiPad 7.9 stores a discharge curve calibrated to the old cell. When a new BM60 is installed, the stored curve no longer matches the actual voltage behaviour of the fresh cell, so the reported percentage shifts erratically across reboots. Run the tablet from a full charge down to automatic shutoff without interruption, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle writes a new calibration baseline and stabilises the readout.

The tablet feels warm around the back near the charging port during the first few charges — is something wrong with the new battery?

Warmth during charging on a new cell is normal. The charge IC on the MiPad 7.9 applies a higher current rate in the bulk charge phase, and a fresh lithium-polymer cell has slightly higher internal resistance before its first few cycles condition it. Surface temperature should stay well below 40°C. If the back becomes hot to hold or the tablet triggers a charging-suspended warning, stop and check that the charger output matches Xiaomi's specified 5V/2A input — a mismatched charger is the most common cause of abnormal heat.

Battery percentage is dropping noticeably faster from 100% down to around 80% than it did with the original cell — is the new battery faulty?

This is fuel gauge drift, not a cell fault. The MiPad 7.9's gauge IC linearises percentage against a stored capacity model, and until one full cycle recalibrates it against the BM60, the top portion of the charge range appears to compress. The cell is delivering its rated 6500mAh — the percentage curve just does not reflect it yet. Complete one uninterrupted discharge to shutoff followed by a full charge to 100%, and the drop rate across the top of the range will normalise.
