Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Yaesu VX-10 / FT-50R Series — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (FNB-V47)
This is a 7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Yaesu VX-10, FT-10R, FT-40R, FT-50R, and compatible handheld transceivers. It replaces OEM part numbers FNB-V47, FNB-V47IS, FNB-47, FNB-47H, FNB-V49, and FNB-V49H. Capacity is 2000mAh (14.4Wh) — matching the original specification.
- VX-10 / FT-series platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, contact pin layout, and 7.2V voltage rail. The BMS handshake is consistent across this platform, so the pack seats and charges the same way on each radio body in the series.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through transmit loads on the VX-10 platform. The BMS handled the PTT current spike without triggering overcurrent cutoff, and voltage held within the expected operating window under sustained RF output.
- First insertion on the Yaesu charger dock: If the dock shows a fault indicator on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The Yaesu charger requires a clean contact cycle to complete the initial BMS handshake before charging begins.
Why the VX-10 drops to reduced TX power mid-shift on a new FNB-V47
Ni-MH cells ship at partial storage voltage, typically around 6.0–6.4V across a 6-cell pack. The VX-10 firmware monitors the voltage rail during transmit and steps down output power when voltage sags below the RF stage threshold. This is not a fault in the battery — it is the radio protecting its PA stage. A full charge cycle before putting the radio into service brings cell voltage up to the 7.2V nominal rail and eliminates the sag under transmit load.
Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after inserting the FNB-V47
The VX-10 uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator, not a capacity-counting circuit. A new pack at storage voltage reads lower than a fully charged pack, so the radio displays fewer bars even though the battery is not defective. Put the pack through one complete charge on the Yaesu dock. Once the pack reaches full charge voltage, the bar display will reflect the actual state. Do not judge capacity from the first reading after insertion.

Frequently Asked Questions
My VX-10 cuts out completely when I press PTT on the new FNB-V47 — did I get a bad pack?
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a defective cell. The transmit current spike on the VX-10 can exceed the BMS threshold if the pack is at low storage voltage on first use. Charge the pack fully on the Yaesu dock before operating. After a complete charge cycle, the BMS handles the PTT spike without tripping — we confirmed this on the bench with sustained transmit loads.
The Yaesu charger dock is blinking a fault LED and never starts charging the new FNB-V47 — what's wrong?
The dock requires the pack voltage to be above a minimum acceptance threshold before it will initiate the charge cycle. A pack shipped at deep storage voltage can fall below that threshold, causing the fault blink. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, reseat it firmly, and try again. If the fault persists, the pack may need a brief trickle charge — some Yaesu docks have a recovery mode activated by holding the battery out for 30 seconds and reinserting.
The FNB-V47 was stored unused for several months and the VX-10 won't power on at all now — is the pack dead?
Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage, and extended storage can push the pack below the BMS recovery voltage. The radio won't power on because the BMS has locked out the output to protect the cells. Place the pack in the Yaesu dock — most Yaesu chargers will detect the low-voltage state and apply a conditioning charge before switching to the normal charge rate. If the dock accepts it, allow a full charge cycle to complete; target terminal voltage is 8.4–8.6V at full charge before reinserting into the radio.
