Fits Yealink W53, W53h, W53P, W71H cordless phone handsets; replaces OEM part W53-BATT.
3.7V lithium-ion at 900mAh delivers 3.33Wh — adequate for full-day standby and multiple talk sessions.
Connector slides into the battery slot on the handset bottom with single-stage locking tab engagement.
Bench testing showed flat discharge curve across talk and standby cycles; BMS held voltage regulation without early cutoff.
On first install, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge — this Li-ion pack establishes stable voltage regulation during the initial slow-charge phase.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Yealink W53 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (W53-BATT)

This is a 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion battery for the Yealink W53 cordless DECT handset. It fits the W53, W53h, W53P, W71H, and compatible handsets in the same family. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a useful charge through a standard workday.

  • W53 handset family compatibility: The W53, W53h, W53P, and W71H handsets share the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout. The BMS in each handset reads cell voltage on the same logic rail, so one battery works across the group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell in a W53h handset and confirmed the BMS accepted the pack without fault codes. Charge termination triggered at the correct cutoff voltage, and standby draw remained within normal range across three full cycles.
  • First charge after installation: After fitting this battery, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full charge before using it. The W53 base station uses a trickle-charge profile — interrupting the first charge cycle early can cause the handset to under-report remaining capacity for several subsequent cycles.

Why the W53 handset loses DECT range when battery voltage sags

The W53 handset adjusts RF transmit power based on available cell voltage. When an aged or partially discharged battery drops below approximately 3.5V under load, the handset cannot sustain full transmit power. The result is shorter effective range and more frequent dropouts, particularly when the user is away from the base. A fresh cell at rated voltage restores the transmit headroom the radio needs to hold a stable link at distance.

Handset not re-pairing to the base after battery replacement

Some DECT handsets in the W53 family lose their base pairing record when battery power is fully interrupted during a swap. The handset powers back on but fails to register with the base, showing no line or a searching indicator. This is not a battery fault — the pairing data is stored in volatile memory that clears without power. Re-register the handset through the base station menu: on the W53P base, navigate to Settings → Account → Register Handset and follow the on-screen prompt.

Frequently Asked Questions

My W53h talk time is noticeably shorter after fitting the new battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. Li-ion batteries ship in a partial state of charge and the W53h BMS calibrates capacity estimates over the first few charge-discharge cycles. Talk time typically improves and stabilises by the third or fourth full cycle. Run the handset down until the low-battery indicator appears, then return it to the base for a complete charge — repeat this two to three times.

The base station charge light stays red and never switches to green with the new battery installed — what is causing that?

A red charge light that never clears usually means the base is not seeing the expected voltage from the new cell. This happens when the battery has discharged below the base station's acceptance threshold during storage. Remove the handset, leave it out of the base for 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly — the connector needs full contact to allow the trickle-charge circuit to initiate. If the light still does not clear after 20 minutes, verify the battery connector is fully clicked in on the handset side.

The handset battery drains completely overnight even when it is sitting in the base — why is that?

Overnight drain while seated in the base almost always means the handset is not making proper contact with the base charging pins. Check that the handset sits flush and does not rock — debris on the base contacts or a worn cradle spring can break the circuit. Clean the charging contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, then reseat the handset and confirm the charge indicator activates within a few seconds of docking.
