Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra MC18 / MC18N0 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTRY-MC18-27MAG-01)
This is a 3.7V, 3200mAh Li-ion battery for the Zebra MC18 and MC18N0 mobile computer. The MC18 is a compact handheld barcode scanner used in retail and warehouse environments for inventory and asset tracking. This pack replaces OEM part numbers BTRY-MC18-27MAG-01 and BT000374.
- MC18 and MC18N0 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one pack covers both variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on an MC18 unit, monitoring BMS cutoff thresholds and cell voltage response across simulated scan burst loads. The protection circuit tripped at the expected low-voltage floor with no false cutoffs under normal scanning draw.
- First-shift preparation on the MC18: After installing a new pack, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before the first shift. The scan trigger draws its highest inrush current when the cell is near minimum — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips during the first pick-and-pack run.
Cradle charging error on a new MC18 battery pack
The MC18 cradle reads pack status through the battery contacts before initiating a charge cycle. If contact resistance is too high — from dirt, oxidation, or a slightly misaligned seating — the dock throws a charging error and refuses to charge. This is not a fault with the cell itself. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle slot with a dry cloth, reseat the scanner firmly until you hear the click, and verify the charging LED activates within 10 seconds.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During a fast scan burst, the MC18 draws simultaneously from the imager, the wireless radio, and the processor — the combined inrush can cause a momentary voltage sag. If the cell is aged or partially discharged, this sag drops far enough that the radio module resets to protect itself, breaking the wireless session. A fresh, fully charged pack raises the floor voltage and reduces sag depth under combined load. If dropouts persist with a new, fully charged pack, check the wireless channel congestion and switch the access point to a less-loaded frequency band.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MC18 scanner stops reading barcodes immediately after I swap the battery — what's going on?
The imager needs a minimum voltage to fire reliably, and a new pack that hasn't been pre-charged can sit below that threshold straight out of the box. The scanner powers on because the processor draws less, but the imager triggers an undervoltage cutback. Place the scanner in its cradle and charge it fully before the first scan — the cell needs to reach at least 4.1V under load to keep the imager stable through burst scanning.
The MC18 runs noticeably warm after a long shift — is something wrong with the battery?
Heat is normal on the MC18 during sustained use because the scanner, radio, and imager all generate thermal load inside a compact, enclosed housing with limited airflow. The battery itself adds heat as it discharges under combined draw. If the housing feels hot rather than warm, check whether the scanner is polling the wireless network at an unusually high frequency — reducing poll rate lowers sustained current draw and brings temperatures down. A cell that is genuinely overheating will trigger the BMS thermal cutoff and shut the device down hard.
This new battery doesn't last as long as my original — is the capacity actually 3200mAh?
New Li-ion cells often underperform for the first two or three charge cycles until the chemistry reaches full capacity. Scan burst frequency and wireless polling both draw harder than steady-state use, so a shift heavy on rapid scanning will deplete the pack faster than light intermittent use. Run two full charge and discharge cycles in normal operation before judging endurance. If shift endurance is still noticeably short after three cycles, check that the cradle is delivering a full charge — a worn cradle contact can terminate the charge cycle early, capping the cell below its rated 3200mAh.
