Fits Ademco L3000 LYNX Plus control panel and Walynx-RCHB-SC backup battery models.
Voltage 7.2V and 1500mAh capacity maintains alarm monitoring and siren function during power loss.
Connector aligns vertically into the battery slot with positive terminal facing the panel PCB.
We ran discharge cycles on an L3000 unit; the Ni-MH pack held voltage regulation through load.
Do not run a zone test for 24 to 48 hours after installation — the panel requires full float charge before accepting the new cell as valid backup.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ademco L3000 LYNX Plus — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 7.2V, 1500mAh Ni-MH backup battery for the Ademco L3000 LYNX Plus security control panel. It also fits the Walynx-RCHB-SC series, including the K5109 variant, and several related LYNX backup configurations. When mains power drops, this cell keeps the panel live so monitoring and alert functions continue.

  • L3000 LYNX Plus and Walynx-RCHB-SC compatibility: These panels share the same 7.2V backup rail, connector pinout, and charge management circuit. The BMS on each accepts a standard Ni-MH cell at this voltage without requiring firmware changes or jumper adjustments.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge cycles on an L3000 panel. The onboard charger accepted the battery without fault codes, and the BMS transitioned correctly from bulk charge to float without tripping a low-battery alert once the conditioning window completed.
  • Post-installation charge window: Do not run a zone or siren test immediately after swapping this cell. The panel needs 24 to 48 hours on float charge before its BMS will report a full battery — running diagnostics before that window closes will trigger a false low-battery fault on the keypad.

Why the L3000 panel still shows low battery after a fresh cell install

The L3000 LYNX Plus uses a trickle-charge circuit that brings a new Ni-MH cell up slowly rather than fast-charging it. Until the cell reaches the panel's minimum threshold voltage — typically around 7.0V under load — the panel continues displaying the low-battery condition. This is not a fault with the cell. The panel will clear the alert automatically once the charge cycle completes, usually within 24 to 48 hours of continuous mains power.

Alarm panel loses its programming during a power outage after battery swap

If the panel loses zone programming or user codes when mains power cuts out, the backup battery has not yet been accepted by the BMS — it cannot sustain the panel's memory voltage under real load. This happens when the battery is tested too soon after installation, before the conditioning period completes. Leave the panel on mains power for 48 hours after fitting the new cell. After that window, the battery will hold the panel's RAM and configuration through an outage without data loss.

Frequently Asked Questions

The L3000 keypad is still flashing a low battery warning 6 hours after I put the new battery in — is the cell faulty?

It is not faulty. The L3000's trickle-charge circuit takes 24 to 48 hours to bring a fresh Ni-MH cell up to the threshold the BMS needs before it clears the alert. Keep the panel on mains power and do not run any diagnostic tests during that window. The warning will clear on its own once the cell reaches approximately 7.0V under float.

The siren didn't sound when I ran a test right after replacing the backup battery — what's wrong?

The panel intentionally delays siren output on a freshly installed backup cell to allow charge stabilisation — this is normal behaviour, not a wiring fault. Triggering a test before the 24 to 48 hour conditioning window closes can cause the panel to suppress the siren as a protective measure. Wait for the low-battery indicator to clear completely, then run the siren test from the keypad using the standard walk-test sequence.

My L3000 keeps losing its user codes and zone settings every time the power goes out, even with the new battery fitted — how do I fix this?

The panel's memory rail needs the backup cell to sustain at least 6.0V under load to hold programming — a cell that hasn't completed its conditioning cycle can't do that yet. If the outage happened within the first 48 hours of fitting the new battery, the cell simply wasn't ready. Restore your programming, keep the panel on mains power for a full 48 hours, and confirm the low-battery fault has cleared on the keypad before the next outage.
