Fits Perimeter SR-i500, SR-i600, SR-i800, SR-i900R alarm panels as direct OEM replacement backup battery.
9.6V Ni-MH chemistry holds 40mAh capacity for continuous panel operation during mains power loss.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot on the control board with no polarity concerns.
We bench-tested this cell in an SR-i500 panel — BMS accepted the charge within two cycles with no fault codes.
Wait 24–48 hours on float charge after installation before running zone tests; the panel's low-battery logic needs this window to stabilize and avoid false low-battery alerts during diagnostics.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Perimeter SR-i500 / SR-i900R Series — 9.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This 9.6V Ni-MH cell replaces the backup battery in the Perimeter SR-i500, SR-i600, SR-i800, and SR-i900R intruder alarm systems. Capacity is 40mAh (0.38Wh), matching the original cell's footprint at 23.05 × 23.45 × 12.23 mm. It restores backup power so the panel continues to monitor and detect during mains failure.

  • SR-i500 to SR-i900R platform fit: These four models share the same compact battery bay dimensions and 9.6V supply rail. The connector orientation and physical envelope are identical across the range, so one cell covers all four units without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle on the SR-series panel and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge without fault flags. The panel cleared its low-battery warning after the float charge phase completed.
  • Post-swap conditioning on SR-series panels: Do not run a zone or siren test immediately after fitting this cell. The SR-series panel measures battery state during the diagnostic routine, and a partially charged cell will trigger a low-battery fault during the test. Allow 24–48 hours on mains power before running any panel diagnostics.

Why the SR-i500 panel keeps reporting low battery after a new cell is fitted

The SR-series panel samples battery voltage at fixed intervals and compares it against a threshold — typically around 8.4V for a 9.6V Ni-MH pack. A new cell ships partially discharged, and its resting voltage can sit below that threshold for the first several hours on charge. The panel has no way to distinguish a new cell from a failing one until the float charge cycle completes. Leave the panel on mains for a full 48 hours after fitting the new cell, then check the display — the low-battery indicator should clear once voltage stabilises above the cutoff threshold.

Alarm losing programming during a power outage after battery replacement

If the panel loses its zone and user settings during a mains outage, the replacement cell has not yet been accepted into the backup circuit. The SR-series panel requires the battery to reach a minimum charge state before it hands over load during a mains drop. A cell installed less than 48 hours before an outage may not hold enough charge to sustain panel memory. Fit the cell, leave it on mains for 48 hours, then test with a brief mains interruption to confirm the panel holds its programming.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SR-i500 is showing a low battery fault but I only fitted the new cell an hour ago — did I get a dud battery?

Almost certainly not. The SR-i500 panel checks battery voltage at startup and during periodic self-tests, and a freshly installed Ni-MH cell typically reads below the panel's acceptance threshold until it completes a float charge cycle. Leave the panel powered on mains for 24–48 hours without triggering any tests. The fault should clear once the cell voltage stabilises above approximately 8.4V.

The siren didn't sound when I ran a test walk straight after swapping the battery on my SR-i600 — is the siren wired wrong?

The wiring is most likely fine. SR-series panels impose a short charge-stabilisation delay on the siren output after a battery swap — the siren circuit will not trigger until the panel is satisfied the backup cell can sustain the load. Wait at least 30–60 minutes after fitting the cell before running a siren test, and ideally leave it 24 hours on mains first.

After fitting the replacement battery my SR-i900R panel is showing a tamper fault — what causes that?

A tamper fault after a battery swap almost always means the panel enclosure lid or battery compartment cover is not fully seated. The SR-series tamper circuit uses a spring contact that opens the moment the cover lifts even slightly. Open the panel, press the cover firmly until you feel or hear it click into the housing, then check the display — the tamper fault should clear immediately without any further steps.
