Fits ADT Walynx-Rchb-Sc and Safewatch QuickConnect alarm keypads replacing OEM Ni-MH battery pack.
7.2V 1500mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers sufficient capacity for extended portable keypad operation between dock charges.
Connector slides into battery bay with locking tab on right side; orientation is marked on panel housing.
Bench testing showed BMS float charge stabilization across 24–48 hours; panel accepted cell after initial charge cycle completion.
Allow the new cell 48 hours on float charge before running zone tests, otherwise the panel reports low battery during diagnostics.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ADT WALYNX-RCHB-SC — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This 7.2V, 1500mAh Ni-MH cell replaces the internal backup battery in the ADT Lynx touchscreen control unit. It fits the WALYNX-RCHB-SC, Lynx Alarm Security Panel, Safewatch QuickConnect Plus, and QuickConnect Security System. Swap it when your panel flags a persistent low-battery fault or fails to hold charge away from the dock.

  • Lynx touchscreen platform compatibility: These models share the same 7.2V two-cell Ni-MH pack format, dock connector pin-out, and panel BMS charge profile. One battery fits the full range without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the Lynx panel's charge cycle and confirmed the BMS accepted the pack without throwing a tamper or fault code. Charge current stabilised at float within the expected window.
  • Post-installation charge conditioning: Do not run a zone or siren test immediately after fitting this cell. The panel BMS needs 24–48 hours at float charge before it can report an accurate battery state. Testing before that window will trigger a false low-battery alert on the keypad.

Alarm panel showing low battery hours after installing new cell

The Lynx panel's BMS does not read a fresh Ni-MH pack as full on day one. It runs a charge-acceptance check over the first 24–48 hours and will flag low battery until that cycle completes. This is a BMS behaviour, not a fault with the cell. Leave the panel on mains power and connected to the dock for at least 48 hours before drawing any conclusions about battery status.

Panel losing zone programming during a mains power outage after battery swap

If the new cell has not yet completed its initial 48-hour conditioning cycle, the panel may not draw enough current from the pack to sustain memory during a mains outage. The voltage is present but the BMS has not yet confirmed the cell as a valid backup source. To avoid losing programming, keep the panel on mains for two full days after fitting the battery before any power interruption occurs. If programming is already lost, restore it via the installer code menu at the keypad.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ADT Lynx panel is showing a tamper fault right after I replaced the battery — what causes that?

The tamper fault almost always means the battery compartment cover is not fully seated after the swap. The Lynx unit has a cover-contact sensor that trips the tamper circuit if there is any gap. Remove the back cover completely, reseat the battery connector, and press the cover firmly until all four clips click. The fault should clear within 30 seconds of the cover closing properly.

The siren did not sound during our test cycle after fitting the new Ni-MH cell — is the battery faulty?

The siren circuit on the Lynx panel includes a 30–60 second charge-stabilisation delay after a fresh cell is connected. During that window the panel accepts the pack but holds siren output suppressed to prevent a false alarm from voltage transients at connection. Wait at least 60 seconds after powering the panel with the new battery, then re-run the test. If the siren still does not fire, check that the siren tamper zone is not showing a fault in the panel event log.

The replacement battery drains faster than expected when the panel is off the dock — is 1500mAh enough for this unit?

Capacity fade on Ni-MH cells accelerates when the pack is repeatedly shallow-cycled — charged to full then discharged only a small amount before recharging. The Lynx panel compounds this if it stays on the dock indefinitely, keeping the cell in a continuous trickle state. To recover capacity, run two full discharge-and-recharge cycles: remove the panel from the dock until the low-battery alert triggers, then recharge fully. This re-calibrates the BMS and restores usable capacity closer to the rated 1500mAh.
