Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ADI AT-46 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 7.4V, 1200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the ADI AT-46 two-way radio. It slots into the same battery bay as the original pack and uses the same voltage rail. Capacity figure comes from the product data, not a third-party estimate.
- AT-46 platform fit: The AT-46 runs a 7.4V nominal rail with a BMS handshake on insertion. This pack matches that voltage window and connector footprint, so the radio's protection circuit accepts it without a fault state on power-up.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through transmit loads on the bench. The BMS held steady through PTT press sequences without tripping into overcurrent lockout, and the radio held its full TX output level across the test.
- First insertion contact check: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first seating, remove the pack, wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The AT-46 dock needs a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before it will begin a charge cycle.
AT-46 bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a new pack
New Li-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically around 3.6–3.7V per cell, not full charge. The AT-46 reads voltage thresholds and maps them to bar segments. At storage voltage, the radio will display one or two bars even though the pack is not faulty. Put the pack through a full charge cycle in the dock first. After a complete charge, the radio should display a full bar reading at the 7.4V nominal ceiling.
AT-46 cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery
Pressing PTT draws a sharp current spike — significantly higher than standby draw — in the first milliseconds of transmission. If the BMS reads that spike as an overcurrent event, it trips and cuts power to the radio instantly. This is not a radio fault; it is the pack's protection circuit responding to the load profile. Let the pack complete one full charge cycle before heavy use. A fully charged cell has lower internal resistance, which reduces the voltage sag on PTT press and keeps the BMS within its safe operating window.

Frequently Asked Questions
My AT-46 charger dock is blinking a fault LED and won't accept the new battery — what's wrong?
The dock fault LED almost always means the BMS handshake didn't complete on insertion. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly until it clicks. If the LED still blinks, the cell may be below the dock's acceptance voltage after shipping — leave it seated for 10–15 minutes, as some docks will trickle-charge a pack up to the acceptance threshold before switching to a normal charge cycle.
The radio drops to reduced TX power mid-shift even though the battery showed full bars at the start — why?
This is voltage sag under sustained RF output load. As the cell depletes, internal resistance rises, and the voltage drop under transmit load becomes large enough that the radio's protection circuit scales back TX power to stay within safe limits. It is not a pack defect — it is the radio protecting itself. To confirm the pack is healthy, check resting voltage after the radio cools; a good cell should read above 7.0V at rest. If it reads below 6.8V after a full charge cycle, the cell has degraded and needs replacement.
After the AT-46 battery sat unused for several months, the charger won't recognise it at all — is it recoverable?
Extended storage allows Li-ion cells to self-discharge below the BMS recovery threshold, typically under 6.0V for a 7.4V two-cell pack. At that voltage, the BMS locks out to prevent unsafe charging. Some chargers with a recovery or boost mode can push a small pre-charge current to bring the cell back above the acceptance threshold — check whether your dock has that mode. If the charger does not recover the pack within 30 minutes of attempting a boost charge, the cell voltage is likely too low to recover safely and the pack should be replaced.
