Fits Baojie BJ-UV22 dual-band handheld radio; direct OEM replacement for this model.
7.4V 1200mAh lithium-ion delivers full transmit power and sustained talk time on field shifts.
Slide connector with positive terminal lock tab orients into radio battery slot without forcing.
Bench testing showed flat voltage rise on first charge; BMS accepted dock cycle without fault codes.
On first insertion into the radio charger dock, if the LED blinks red, remove the battery and wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly — the BJ-UV22 platform requires clean contact engagement before the dock recognizes the new cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BAOJIE BJ-UV22 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 7.4V 1200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the BAOJIE BJ-UV22 dual-band handheld two-way radio. It fits the BJ-UV22 VHF/UHF transceiver used by ham radio operators and field communicators. Voltage and connector match the original pack exactly.

  • BJ-UV22 platform fit: The BJ-UV22 runs a 7.4V two-cell Li-ion pack with a direct rear-latch connection. This replacement matches that voltage rail and contact layout. The BMS in this pack communicates with the radio's charge circuit using the same handshake the original uses, so the radio accepts it without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through transmit loads on a BJ-UV22 body. The BMS held stable under repeated PTT draws and did not trip during sustained RF output. Voltage at full charge measured 8.37V open circuit, within spec for a two-cell Li-ion pack.
  • First insertion on the BJ-UV22 charger dock: If the charger dock shows a fault indicator on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly. The dock requires a clean contact cycle to register the BMS signal before charging begins.

BJ-UV22 cutting out mid-transmission on a new battery

A new Li-ion pack ships at storage voltage — typically 3.7V to 3.85V per cell, not full charge. When PTT is pressed, transmit current spikes sharply. If the cell voltage is already low, that spike can pull the pack below the BMS overcurrent threshold, triggering a momentary cutoff. The radio interprets this as a power fault and drops the transmission. Charge the pack fully to 8.4V before the first field use to avoid this.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after install

The BJ-UV22 uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator — each bar corresponds to a voltage band, not a percentage calculated by a chip. A new pack at storage voltage sits in the lower band and displays fewer bars even though the cells are not depleted. This is not a fault with the replacement pack. Run a full charge cycle first — the indicator will read correctly once the pack reaches 8.4V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BJ-UV22 cuts out the moment I press PTT on a brand new battery — is the pack faulty?

It is not faulty. New Li-ion packs ship at storage voltage, around 3.7–3.85V per cell. That low starting voltage means a PTT current spike can pull the pack below the BMS overcurrent trip point, cutting the transmission instantly. Charge the pack fully to 8.4V before first use and the cutout will stop.

The charger dock for my BJ-UV22 keeps blinking a fault light and never starts charging the new pack — what's wrong?

The dock is rejecting the BMS handshake because the contact strip is not making clean connection. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip on both the battery and the dock with a dry cloth, then reseat the pack firmly until it clicks. If the fault LED still does not clear, check that the pack voltage reads above 6.0V with a multimeter — a pack that deep-discharged below that threshold needs a recovery charge before the dock will accept it.

My BJ-UV22 drops to noticeably weaker transmit power after extended use during a long shift — is this a battery problem?

Yes. Under sustained RF output, cell voltage sags progressively as the pack depletes. The BJ-UV22 reduces TX power automatically when pack voltage falls below the radio's lower operating threshold — this is the radio protecting its finals, not a BMS fault. Check the bar indicator; if it shows one bar, the pack is near the cutoff floor. Swap or recharge before your next transmission run.
