Fits Luiton LT-3268 handheld radio; replaces OEM battery for this model.
7.4V, 1200mAh lithium-ion delivers full power output on transmit without voltage sag during sustained RF.
Connector slides into radio battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush against radio body.
We bench-tested against LT-3268 dock charger; BMS accepted handshake on first insertion, no fault LED.
On initial charge in the LT-3268 dock, the bar indicator may show one bar lower than capacity — this is normal for cells shipped at storage voltage and clears after the first full charge cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Luiton LT-3268 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 7.4V, 1200mAh Li-ion battery for the Luiton LT-3268 handheld two-way radio. It slots into the LT-3268 battery compartment and connects to the radio's existing power rails. Voltage and chemistry match the original pack exactly.

  • LT-3268 platform fit: The LT-3268 runs a 7.4V dual-cell Li-ion architecture. This pack matches that voltage rail and uses the same connector footprint, so the radio's power management circuit sees no difference at startup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack under simulated push-to-talk loads. The BMS held the output rail steady through repeated transmit spikes and engaged the overcurrent cutoff at the expected threshold before resetting cleanly.
  • First-insertion contact check: If the charger shows a fault LED on first insertion, pull the battery out, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly. The LT-3268 charger dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before it begins charging.

LT-3268 cutting out mid-transmission on a new battery

A new Li-ion cell ships at storage voltage — typically 3.6–3.7V per cell, not a full 4.2V. When the LT-3268 keys up to transmit, the current draw spikes sharply. At storage voltage, internal impedance is higher, and that spike can drag the pack voltage low enough to trigger the BMS overcurrent cutoff. The radio drops out, then recovers seconds later. Run one full charge cycle before your first shift and the cutoff threshold becomes easy to clear under normal TX load.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting this pack

The LT-3268 reads battery level using simple voltage thresholds — it has no fuel gauge chip. A new pack at storage voltage sits in the lower threshold band, so the radio displays one bar even though the cell is not depleted. This is not a faulty pack. Charge the battery fully to 8.4V across the pack before use and the indicator will step up to the correct bar count on next power-on.

Frequently Asked Questions

My LT-3268 cuts out the moment I press PTT, then comes back — is the new battery faulty?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip caused by transmit current spiking against a cell at storage voltage, not a fault in the pack itself. New Li-ion cells ship at around 3.6–3.7V per cell, where internal impedance is high enough that a hard PTT draw can pull the voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold. The BMS resets within seconds, which is why the radio recovers. Charge the battery fully to 8.4V before first use and the trip threshold will clear cleanly under normal TX load.

The LT-3268 charger dock is blinking a fault LED and won't start charging the new battery — what's wrong?

The dock fault LED almost always means the charger cannot complete the BMS handshake through a dirty or poorly seated contact strip. Pull the battery, wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the dock with a dry cloth, and reseat the pack with firm downward pressure until it clicks. If the LED still blinks after reseating, the cell may be below the dock's acceptance voltage from extended shelf storage — connect the pack to a Li-ion charger set to 7.4V at 0.5A to bring it above the acceptance threshold, then transfer it back to the dock.

The LT-3268 drops to noticeably weaker audio and reduced transmit power mid-shift — is that a BMS issue?

That behaviour is voltage sag under sustained RF output, not a BMS trip. As the cell depletes toward its lower voltage threshold, the radio's power amplifier receives less headroom and scales back TX output to protect the circuit — audio and range both drop as a result. This is normal Li-ion behaviour under continuous high-draw use, not a defect. To extend the usable window per shift, avoid back-to-back long transmissions where possible, and recharge when the bar indicator drops to one bar rather than running the pack flat.
