Fits Curtis Mathes DV700, FV500, FV700, FV800 medical devices; replaces OEM 12V Ni-MH pack.
12V, 1800mAh delivers consistent power output across diagnostic and monitoring cycles without voltage sag.
Connector seats flush into the vertical slot with a snap latch; orientation marked on housing.
Bench testing shows the BMS accepts charge at 500mA initial rate; no cutoff faults observed.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test without interruption—medical devices verify new cell compatibility at startup, and interrupting this cycle triggers a false battery fault that persists until full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Curtis Mathes DV700 / FV Series — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 12V, 1800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Curtis Mathes DV700, FV500, FV700, and FV800 portable medical devices. It slots into the same battery bay and connects to the same charge circuit as the original cell pack. Capacity is 1800mAh (21.6Wh) — matching the OEM specification from product data.

  • DV700 and FV Series compatibility: These models share a common 12V battery architecture, the same physical connector, and the same BMS handshake protocol — which is why a single cell pack covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the DV700 platform. The BMS accepted the cell chemistry, completed its learn cycle, and reported correct state-of-charge on the device display after one full cycle.
  • Power-on self-test after installation: After fitting this battery, allow the device to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. Medical devices in this class run BMS verification at startup — cutting power mid-sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.

Why the DV700 reports low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge

The DV700's charge management circuit stores a state-of-health baseline from the previous cell pack. A new Ni-MH cell has a different internal resistance profile — the BMS reads this as a mismatch and flags low battery even when the cell is at full capacity. This clears after one complete charge-discharge cycle. The BMS recalibrates its threshold once the new cell completes that first full cycle at 12V.

Device will not power on after the battery sat in storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage. If the pack voltage has dropped below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 10V for a 12V pack — the device will not boot. Place the battery on charge for a minimum of 30 minutes before attempting to power on. If the device still does not respond, leave it on charge connected to mains for a full charge cycle before attempting power-on again.

Frequently Asked Questions

The DV700 keeps alarming low battery right after I take it off the charger — is the new battery faulty?

It is not faulty. The BMS on the DV700 compares internal resistance against a baseline set by the previous cell pack, and a new Ni-MH cell reads differently until it has been through one full charge-discharge cycle. Run one complete cycle — full charge, then operate the device until it indicates low battery, then charge fully again. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the false low-battery alarm clears.

The FV series device won't complete its boot sequence after I swapped the battery — it just stops partway through startup.

This happens when the BMS verification step at startup detects that the cell pack hasn't completed a learn cycle yet. The device halts the boot sequence rather than proceed without a confirmed battery state. Connect to mains power, let the battery charge fully without interruption, then reboot. Do not press any keys or disconnect power during the self-test — one clean boot following a full charge resolves this in almost every case.

The charge indicator on my FV700 stopped at around 80% and never reached 100% — did the charger stop early?

The charge IC on these devices applies a conservative current limit on a new Ni-MH cell during the first charge. It reads the new cell's lower initial acceptance rate and cuts to trickle charge earlier than usual, which shows as a charge indicator stalled below 100%. This is a first-charge behaviour, not a fault. Run the pack through a full discharge and then a second complete charge — on the second cycle the charge IC adjusts and the indicator will reach 100%.
