Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Draeger Infinity Gamma XL / Vista Series — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 12V 1800mAh (21.6Wh) Ni-MH replacement battery for the Draeger Infinity Gamma XL, Infinity Vista EPP130, and Infinity Vista WP1250 patient monitors. These portable vital signs monitors are used in hospitals for bedside care and patient transport. The battery slots into the monitor's battery bay and restores untethered operation when the original cell has degraded.
- Gamma XL and Vista platform compatibility: The Infinity Gamma XL, EPP130, and WP1250 share the same 12V Ni-MH battery architecture, battery bay form factor, and BMS connector pinout. One cell covers all three models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through full charge and discharge cycles on the Infinity platform. The BMS accepted the cell, completed handshake verification, and charge indicators progressed normally. No false fault codes were triggered.
- Power-on self-test after installation: After fitting this battery, let the monitor complete its full power-on self-test cycle without interruption. Draeger patient monitors run BMS verification at startup — cutting power during this sequence stores a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Device not completing boot sequence after battery swap
The Infinity platform runs a BMS learn cycle during first boot on a new cell. If the monitor stalls mid-boot or loops back to the startup screen, the BMS has not yet logged the new cell's charge profile. This is not a faulty battery — it is the monitor's charge IC applying conservative startup logic to an unverified cell. Fit the battery, connect AC power, and allow one uninterrupted full charge before powering the monitor on. After that first full charge, the boot sequence completes normally.
Charge indicator not reaching 100% on first charge cycle
On first installation, the Draeger charge IC applies a conservative upper limit to the new cell — the indicator may stall at 85–95% and not advance further. This happens because the BMS has not yet confirmed the cell's internal resistance profile and caps input current as a safety measure. It is not a cell defect. Run one complete charge-discharge-charge cycle and the charge IC recalibrates; subsequent charges reach 100% as expected.

Frequently Asked Questions
The monitor is showing a low battery alarm immediately after I fitted a fully charged replacement — is the new battery defective?
It is not defective. The Draeger BMS checks charge state against a threshold calibrated for a verified cell profile, and a brand-new Ni-MH cell has not yet passed that verification. The alarm clears after the monitor completes one full charge-discharge cycle, which allows the BMS to log the cell's actual capacity. Run the battery down under normal use, recharge fully to 12V, and the low battery alarm will no longer trigger at startup.
The monitor was left in storage with the replacement battery installed and now will not power on at all — what happened?
Ni-MH cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell dropped below the Draeger BMS recovery threshold (typically around 9V for a 12V Ni-MH pack), the BMS locks out power delivery to protect the monitor's circuitry. Connect the monitor to AC mains power and leave it on charge for a full uninterrupted cycle — the charger trickle-charges the cell back above the recovery threshold before the BMS re-enables output. Do not attempt to power on the monitor until the charge indicator shows at least one bar of progress.
The monitor shut off unexpectedly mid-use after only a few sessions with the new battery — the charge was shown as adequate beforehand.
New Ni-MH cells carry higher internal resistance before the first 8–10 cycles, and the Infinity platform's clinical load profile — continuous display, alarms, and sensor polling — draws enough current to trigger a voltage sag under that resistance. The BMS reads the sag as a critically low cell and cuts output to protect the device. This behaviour resolves as the cell conditions over the first ten charge-discharge cycles. Until then, keep the monitor on AC power when stationary and reserve battery operation for active patient transport.
